WARSHIP .. HMNZS Leander Well this will be a hole different subject, within the last six months I have had a couple move into a flat down the back, from the UK and intent on staying in the NZ, due his style of work, Mark an ab-sail roof welding person obviously in high demand (no pun) , during recent months bumped into the couple , .. Yesterday, obviously I'm trusted, a TV arrived and already simply said if he was not home plop at my place (not a problem) ... BOY ! this is a TV 65" inch's of it ... left a note on the couples door the over sized parcel was waiting here.

On Mark returning home I gave him a hand to get the TV home to the proper address , course most off his gear is held up in Auckland/Customs , typical so helped set it up, left with a huge box, thought I'd be able to throw that out , rubbish it ..... I joking said build another Space Shuttle ... :)

This afternoon (truly this evening) the penny dropped and I thought with all this material (cardboard rubbish) Why not build another Warship and this time some really close to me and my family heritage and my artwork, so with this idea WARSHIP .. HMNZS Leander out off cardboard , 1/72 planned and built to be radio controlled ... and to be used in a lake.

What I am going to do is do a gradual build and show how its done without plans other than taking it from books and my head and again sourcing books the really get the detail , already thought of were it is going in here , so it is off we go.

PS : The material was going to be used for Marty's card guns , I'll bits and pieces of scrap card for that , I'm sure Richard 'Rick' will supply me with plenty of glue :)

Well I did the numbers this morning , I think it is best to reduce the scale to 1/100 , the cruiser at 554 ft at 1/72 scale would have ended up at 2.362 meters long (94" inch's) , so reducing the scale to 1/100 still comes in at 1.69 meters (66.5" inch's) , it is relatively a simple warship but of the old style WWII looks.

Ok now we have the raw material and with the measures done it is now time to practice my knowledge.
Image
You can see the keel plate , this is not the entire length but from the point off the bow to the rudder post known as the PP @ 530 ft length.
Image
This is not the full beam of scaled 55 ft as the hull curves up to the armour belt. and side hull plating. So lets turn a cardboard box that was to be rubbished into something that is going to look like this , Idea this time of the year I can get the hull near complete or at least were I can build other smaller parts on rubbish days , and today is my local rubbish collection day.

Hopefully in the end it will look just like this without the fellas on the deck.
