Went out this evening with the usual hand full of bird seed, cooked rice, and bread ...for the feathered ones, and noticed this odd chap or chapess in the crowd.
Went to get my camera, expecting to return to a vacant patch of grass, but they were still there ... and the odd one.
As I got closer , they all took off .... except for the target bird.
Very odd ... seems to be a mix of sparrow and greenfinch, I wasn't aware that type of thing went on in bird world ... but he/she was very tame.

This is very fuzzy .... but it stands out against the rest.

Mind you, with the bloody world, as it is at the moment, nothing would surprise me.

Marty Darwin should have seen this real weird insect years back, never seen anything like it, I rung the DSIR described it and apparently a regular up in the alps, just happened to get blown here in the N/W wind ... another for Marty Darwin.

A rare Bird would be a young Lady who doesn't get as pi**ed as a fart lying on the pavement outside a Night Club on a Friday night!

I had a Buzzard/Hawk land on my lawn the other day, dismantling a hapless Sparrow!

It took over an hour to remove all the feathers!

I would have liked to photograph it, but it probably would have frightened it off!

The USA is a favourite place for Folks who love shooting things...anything and everything!.... ...!

I have a dislike of Guns!

..actually......its one of the reasons why I'm not too fond of "Military" stuff!.... ...!

I'm the other way , look after the animals within reason other than the natural stuff , they can't shoot ya .. love my military stuff , that hardware is needed to stop all sorts of weirdo's .. it is a big world of nasty's out there and ya need it ... even today , the gun are not the weapons ... its now cars and trucks and if everyone had a gun they could have stopped a lotta hassles before getting outta hand.

In my quiet little corner of England, Herefordshire, Gun Crime, and/or the use of guns, is unheard of.

Civilians with Guns, and Armed Police on the streets in Britain is a rarity....and limited to the large Cities so far...even then it is rare!!

It is uncommon for Genuine British Folks wanting to own Guns in England, which makes us different from the Americas.

Even the Farming community has no use for Guns...no wild animals to attack the livestock...what livestock there is!

Very strong Laws to owning Guns.... ...!

I like my little corner of the World, in this Island, and keep out of the big cities!.... ...!

A familiar sight in England, but mostly very high up in the sky, hovering, and searching for prey far down below!

The problem with photographing our garden birds is that they have been taught from a very young age that England is covered with Domestic Cats, intent on dismantling them!
The slightest movement will result in them flying off very quickly!

A lot of bird noise outside, squawking, etc, will indicate that there is a Cat on the prowl....(a ghost of Mars!).... ....!

If it were not for the Cats (and Birds of prey) I suspect that our lovely Garden Birds would live very happily amongst us!

Along the way I was thinking as well ....
It was back tonight , and it's super tame, so I'm thinking ...maybe ... escaped Canary meets good looking sparrow ..... and the logic behind that is, this little bugger doesn't make sparrow sounds ... it sounds like a canary.
Something to ponder I guess ... what's going on in the bird world, and do we need to know

Well know thing was the 'fantail' is super friendly , but if you frequent the bars in the city sparrows becoming friendly, the most amazing place I did see this was in Puhoi just north of Orewa/Red Beach .. playing pool these sparrows stool on the side on the cushion watching .. was there a good half dozen times and same thing ... they interacted with peoples .. they only live a max of three years .. I'm sure these ones would have lived a lot longer simply cos they were having fun ! ... that is true!

I have looked into it to compare I think its just little bit unusual but its a baby yellow hammer I have them around at home that look similar when they are young.
