Odd question , but Im sure the answer is here .
Next week (5th) Im taking my mum , partner and her mum to Rotorua for two nights.
Mum isn't very mobile , as in , cant do stairs . Last time I took an ATR ride , ANZ had a ramp up to the door.
Is this standard practice for the type ? or should i ask for the extra assistance.
The old girl is worried about holding people up (shes not that slow... but)

Its going to be a bit of a sentimental trip , for mum at least.
Possibly her last chance to revisit the church she and dad (rip) were married in , and their first home together.
My partner and her mum will do the tourist thing , but the old lady and I will do the history thing .... just want it to work.

Seems everything i touch lately turns to ..... well you know . <_<

Hi Marty, if you do ask for assistance it's probably better for her as they will pre board you guys ahead of the rest of the passengers. Also if it's a far gate such as 5 then it's a bit of a hike down there, so one of the gate staff will be able to wheel her down in a chair.

Also the ramps are pretty much standard equipment now apart from certain gates in WLG and AKL.

Ps the ground staff in CHC regional lounge are generally pretty good, but I am a little biased.

I've done a number of ATR trips recently out of ChCh to Dunedin and Invercargill; most times I've had ramps, but occasional had steps.
Per above, ask the staff for help if needed.

Well heading north in the morning, my sky spies tell me that the aircraft at this stage is ZK-MPV ... a nice new ATR.
And boarding is gate 5 ... which they tell me is very close to the terminal.
I contacted ANZ re possible assistance for the old dear .... nothing was a problem, 10 out 10 for customer service.
Will keep you posted.

Well here I am in rotorua .... with the old girl , partner, and her old girl .....gawd, bloody hard work.
The flight up was wonderful, wish it could have gone on longer.
All credit to the gate staff at CHC .... gate 5 wasn't were I thought it was, and mum would never have made the walk without a few stops.
A young lady appeared with a wheel chair , and away we went , a few minutes ahead of the other pax.
Got the thumbs up from the crew , and proceeded to fill row 9 of NZ 5782.
On arrival at Rotorua , yet another ANZ staff member waiting at the ramp with a chair ..... we waited until everybody else left the aircraft , but this young guy just waited , and showed the utmost respect and care for the old crook.

100% credit to the ground and aircrew of NZ 5782 ..... awesome.

I have seen special wheelchair ramp for ATR plane so I am sure NZ has so that your mom can walk up easily.

Aharon
