Today would have been my Fathers 84th birthday ...he's been gone 3 years now .
On the 4th , my mum will 83 , and on the 6th I will be 60 ..... 2 , 4 , 6 , lucky for some.

Had a few wines for the old man tonight, not that he would worry

These days time just passes so fast, you try to hang onto a memory, but it fades .....
Sorry, I'm not sure what I'm trying to say .... maybe its the wine

Anyway ... happy birthday Dad ... wherever you are

Welcome to the 'next level'. Last week I picked up a form from the local chemist to send to my doc, and it said 'age: 61'. I really have no idea how I got here:)

Apparently, 20 years ago Princess Diana died. That seems like just yesterday, I was starting out on my second big relationship. A lot of water under the bridge since then.

I can only hope that we both live as long as our mothers:) Thinking of your dad.

Yeah, I do have a few favourites from Bob, 'Like a Rock' has always been on my 'last' playlist -- which I put together in 2009 for my funeral, just in case I didn't recover from my op...
For me, Bob is the poet for baby-boomer blokes. My all-time favourite will always be 'Night Moves'. I'm not the only one obsessed with this song,take a look here. Andthen there's this woman, who published a book on the YouTube 'Night Moves' video comments!

What are all you young guys worried about its my birthday this month also and I will give you all a few years Im a little bit older than your mum Marty and still going good.
How do I keeping the mind active? I spending hours and hours planting trees in the Canterbury photo scenery hope to have the many hundreds of thousands planted before the end of the year

A few weeks ago I entered the flight planning room and ran into another guy also rostered to fly that day. I asked him where he was off to and he replied "Vancouver....last trip". I replied with "What?..... have we stopped going to Vancouver?"
"Nope, my last trip". I was stunned as he looked nowhere near 65.
"10 minutes ago I had 5 years to go" he added.
I had to pause and reflect on that and how "true" the statement was. I looked back at what I did over the last 5 years (well what I could remember of it) and yes it has flown by (no pun intended) and I only have 7 and a bit years left.
Scary stuff.

Marty be thankful and cherish the time you had with your Dad. A good innings so they say. Mine "popped his clogs" at the age of 59. Apart from being unexpected, and that we had to make the ultimate decision for him, what made it worse was that he was really looking forward to retirement and had everything planned. You could retire at 60 then. I was 29 and with a wife and 1 year old son. I had passed through all those "it's all about me" years and I was looking forward to really getting to know him and give back.

No Pinot Noir was harmed in the drafting of this post.....unusual!!! But I did have a couple last night so don't worry

Don't know about you, but I find flying a great way to clear the head, maybe its just a different perspective, not sure.

Just had some sad news yesterday of another death in the family.
My youngest (43) Son's, Step-dad (Married one of my ex-wives).
He was partially paralysed high up in his spine, in a crash when driving his company's heavy goods vehicle, some 40-odd years ago.
The effect was to limit most of his interior and exterior workings, which gradually shut down over the years!

You never recover from spinal injuries, which always reminds me to take great care when riding my motorcycle!

My Mum and Dad died of "old age" at the age of 89, in 1989. They both nearly made 90 years old!

I am 83 years old now, and with the help of modern medication, I should make it to my 100th birthday, or even more... ...!

The last time I visited my doctor, a few weeks ago, for my annual check-up, he looks at my age record 83, and exclamed, with a confused look; "I would have put you down as being in your early 60's!"

So there's hope for me yet!... ...!

...lots more folks to annoy yet..!

Amazing what can be done with modern medication, which wasn't available years ago, in our Parents time!
