Being trapped here with nothing else to do , except watch history channel.... and that's not a bad thing ...I'm learning lots of stuff.
Today I watched a one hour doco on the the subject title ...Hemingway.

What a guy...a real mans , man. Its a shame the the bottle got him in the end. ( and a bullet)

But..... some quotes from the man....

"Happiness in intelligent people , is the rarest thing I know"
"Never mistake motion for action"
"The best way to find out if you can trust somebody ...is to trust them"

And a favorite " I drink to make other people more interesting"
And to finish ..... " Always do sober, what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut"

Yeah the quotes can be fun, often misquoted or just plain made up.
Like the Churchill/Lady Astor interchanges:

“Winston, if I were your wife I would put poison in your coffee,” says Lady Astor.
“And if I were your husband, I would drink it,” Churchill is alleged to have replied.

Or there’s this one: “Sir, you are drunk!”
“Yes, but you are ugly,” replies Churchill, “and in the morning I will be sober.”

These exchanges never took place.

I want to be in a position to use the second Churchill one though....

Every time I make an outrageous/ridiculous comment, I end it with; "Trust Me!".... ... ...!

Towards the end of WW II, Churchill was severely criticised for commandeering 3 of the newly-delivered B-24s to take himself and his cabinet to the USA for a conference. Previously they would all have gone by fast RN destroyer.
His excuse? - "I didn't want to put all the baskets in one egg"
