Hardley an issue considering what else is going on around the world ...but, I'm bringing it up anyway ...free speech or maybe a rant,(both under threat) while it lasts....and being from a white male, I doubt this post will last more than 60 seconds....or will it...anyway here it is ...
CCC (Christchurch city council), how dare you pump god knows how many tons of chlorine into the best groundwater in the country every week....without public consultation.
Yes, I understand some wells have been affected by the quakes ...but, you(CCC) had an option ...ultraviolet treatment ...which you chose to ignore.(documented) but are now admitting may have been a better option (documented)
Tonight before cooking dinner I took a shower ...in nothing less than swimming pool water ...can't get rid of the smell.
Then I cooked some beautiful Agria spuds from up north in the same c r a p ...and 50% of the remaining dinner ...W T F.
I'll leave it there, for here, but I'm taking this on.

Thanks, I've been very homesick lately, watching youtube videos of Christchurch for example, so it's nice to be reminded that things are not always the way I remember them:)
Plenty of chlorine here in Timaru, I still notice it every morning when I make my coffee, we were certainly spoilt for a long time in Chch. Hopefully by the time I can afford to return, the water will be sorted, but I'm not holding my breath. Well, I am, but only so I can't smell the chlorine...

Chlorine kills bugs in the water, it is not harmful used the correct way for water purification and it should not be noticeable when used.

NZ is blessed with so much water that it is a shock when it becomes an issue, isn't it?
We just suck it out of the earth and assume it's good.
Welcome to the 21st century,
post-Hastings 2016: more people, more cow poop, tougher standards.
CHCH has a
bigger problem than I knew about.
Marty, my sympathies... I also can't drink town water; I prefer beer.

I'm careful about the water I drink.
I use several products imported from the UK, Ireland and the USA. They take water and run it through a carefully managed system of
mixing with natural products, heating and filtering before bottling. Great water as a result.
Three of my usual producers, if anyone is interested are ... Glenlivet, Jack Daniels and Jamiesons.

Hmm, I can't imagine the carbon footprint which goes into your 'food miles'. Buy local!
Here's our local weekly delivery, here in Timaru:

Marty, looks like your problems are solved -- just walk up to Cashmere and get some spring water! The Seven Sharp item was quite cute, and very timely...

marty glad to hear it - keeps airplanes in business which gives flightsimmers a hobby!
As for a carbon footprint ... if we shut down every parliament in the world we would eliminate the bulk of the hot air emissions and 98% of the effluent pollution.
