Customer service fail

Postby Splitpin » Fri Feb 22, 2019 7:31 pm

I'm going to name and shame, and it may wrong as I know different companies have different policies...but.
All I wanted was a cheap cell phone ...not smart....just a phone, the type you use to make bloody phone calls (hard to find these days)

Noel Leeming had one advertised at x dollars, so that's where I went ...walked in, found the phone place and waited ...and waited .... and waited some more.
Finally, a young lady approached me, but obviously, didn't see me ... and despite my raised hand ..walked on past.
I moved to the checkout area, manned by a team of 3 very disinterested looking young people, and asked about the phone ..." you need to talk to a sales person" I was told.

End of visit.

Moved the car 500mtrs to Harvey Norman. Walked through the furniture department, telling 2 sales people I was ok thank you along the way, and arrived in the tech department.
Asked James about the phone I was looking for, checked out 5 minutes later....job done.

Noel ...you need to lift your game big time. Shopping at that branch is NOT a good experience, and I for one won't grace you with my coin again.

Its one of those nasty experiences that stick with you for a long time, and keep niggling at you!
A "High Blood Pressure" sort of thing!
Breathe deeply, Marty!

Good on the new Phone Marty! The sort of thing I need, with big letters and numbers, just to make a simple phone call when the need arises!
...not one of those expensive, i45, bells and whistles, portable hand-held Computers with an inbuilt Hasselblad Camera!.... ....!

My only use for a Mobile Phone is to call the recovery service if I break down on my Motorcycle and no other purpose whatsoever!
(It's ALWAYS switched off)!
My Land-line phone does all the other stuff, via a very long length of copper wire!

Paul..... B-) ....!

Things have certainly changed since our day, nowadays I feel like I'm being evaluated by the sales people, and somehow failing to reach their level of customerness….
I'm not too sure that this is a local branch issue, because it's the same here in Timaru --- NL's staff always seem too busy to serve, although it isn't always apparent what they are doing. Harvey Norman is different, they seem keen to sell, maybe they earn more commission or something. The last time I went there, I popped in to look at a coffee grinder, and went home with a new TV!

Well played, that man!
If I go into a shop to buy some particular item, I don't want some salesperson trying to sell me something different  I have occasionally told the idiot what he's done wrong before I walk out, but that is rare.

This is not new.
I was in the market for a new small car (Vauxhall Corsa) some 25 years ago in England.
Went in to the showroom at the weekend; jeans and t-shirt. Left after 20 mins walking around without being spoken to by anyone.
Went in the following Tuesday on the way home from work, shirt and tie; didn't get more than 4m in before being welcomed.
Bought the same car somewhere else though.

... and I agree, NL is probably the last place I go for anything; some 20+ yrs in NZ and they are lowest on my radar for both service and pricing.
I have a NL in Rolleston, but I'll still trek into Hornby or Addington.

Glad it wasn't just me .... I'll stand by my decision, and like jpreou, won't bother with them any more.

...although today I walked into town to meet the family for lunch, they were running late as usual so I popped into NL for a 'mystery shopper' test:) I was greeted at the door by a very friendly person, who said 'just call out' if I needed any help, and was approached twice more in the store, in a nice, non-encroaching way -- they must have been having some customer training!
And that's with my new 'sailor home from the sea' straggly grey beard.

Still is apparently; bought a washing machine and a few other bits from them recently and received great service.
