Stars and such

I was just out on the deck having a ciggie, and I looked up at the stars. I live in a relatively suburban part of Christchurch, but this place is away from the city lights and facing away from the street lights ....in other words, its dark.
What a show tonight, the milky way at its almost best, the southern cross directly overhead and Scorpio rising in the east ...even spotted a satellite passing over.

I find it a very grounding experience, star gazing, puts all the Bullshit we have to endure everyday into perspective ...we are nothing, just dust...so why not just chill and get on with it.

I don't often give vent to weather gripes - what's the point - but Auckland is in the grip of a drought, and this whole week, every time I needed to be outdoors for a half hour, it drizzled!
Not enough to fill the dams, just enough to wet that which needed to be dry for a minute or two.

Revenge on the dratted weather:
Trying your link Mike, 10/10 cloud didn't stop me experiencing the simulated version by way of the app on my phone.
You just point it the area in the sky, and it shows that alignment of moon/planets is true!

Amazing... you go back indoors and feel: mission accomplished

When I go to bed at nights and close my eyes, my brain explores our Milky Way Galaxy and the Universe surrounding it!
There's lots of fascinating "stuff" out there...
....and it's all a very long way away...light-years!
186,000 miles per second for however long it takes to get there...
..and back!
(A No 86 Bus will be far too slow).
With the enormous tonnage of stuff out there, I still can't get my head around this; "Big Bang" theory.... ...!
I'm just happy with it "always" being there!

It has been drizzling here for about 30mins. Bris-bunn to Toowoomba is about 125km, and I am about 90km West of Bris.
Very impressed with that app. Mind you, it hardly ever rains here, so an investment might not be justified

Big Bang theory is just a Theory, the real story is vastly different and not religious at all.

With all the stuff up there forever expanding, I'm still curious to know when it all started.
The idea that it all came from nothing, (a tiny crack in the pavement?) is a bit hard to take in!... ... ...!
