I'm a weather watcher from way back...love clouds, study the maps and the satellite stuff...but, in Canterbury... NOTHING happens.
27 Warnings were issued today...for everywhere but here...snow less than 100k west of here ...and here, calm and cool .
Global warming seems to have passed us over.(in Canterbury) Some would celebrate if that were so, however, I am not among those..... I need snow on the beach.....

I moved out here from Brisbane in May 1996, which is the tail end of Autumn. Very pleasant weather, with daytime temps in the low 20s after overnights below double figures which is great sleeping weather. After a couple of years I once went about four weeks without seeing a cloud - and that was dead boring

It has been a week of CB dodging for us. Particularly around Nelson, Wellington and New Plymouth.
While Christchurch has been fairly benign at ground level, there have been a couple of rough nights at about 6000ft. SP you just need a taller house

, Maybe I'll move up onto the port hills, I think it's about elevation.
I can imagine what you've been dealing with, but I really appreciate your efforts in getting my TradeMe stuff to me on time.
Fly safe

Well something like 18,000 lightning strikes recorded along the west coast!
Last night I could've sworn there was artillery fire to the NW of Auckland - not *Sheet Flash* grumble grumble... but bright red balls of fire on the horizon and *Thump, Thump, Thump*.
What's the World coming to?

Paul, there's been plenty of sunshine here but for the past 10 days or so a weather system has been dragging sub-polar air up past Adelaide to the Alice and then across to exit by Brisbane. Marty will be needing the John Ls anytime now

Heard someone complaining of 140kt headwinds at altitude this morning, whilst we were dealing with only 80kts of crosswind. Certainly made diverting around stuff interesting.

Looks like things are hotting up for Paul - but not past the weekend. I remember walking on snow on Ben Macdhui in the Cairngorms when the temp was 92F. That would have been early July 1966. It was a glorious day and we could see the Cuillins on Skye, almost 100 miles away.
