Last evening while chopping kindling wood the 90yold motor gave a cough and splutter with tightening of the chest to about 1and a half servèrity outof 10 i put the axe down and sat back for about 5 minutes until the coughing and splutter had stopped and as I only had about 5 minutes left to finish the job started chopping the kindling again but after about 2 minutes there was a loud cough and much bigger spluttering with the chest tightening up to about 5 or 6 servèrity stopped working waited a couple of minutes no change so went inside sat on my comfy chair and after about 10 minutes still at about level 5 or 6 rang the triple 1.
Got carted off to the garage were a Dr mechanic told me my engine was pretty much warn out and would never work to full capacity again.
But I am sitting in hospital feeling the same as I was yesterday before I started cutting the kindling but been told to take it easy

Sorry to hear that Doug but lucky you got a "warning shot over the bow" so to speak.
Rest up and it might be time to start purchasing precut kindling, rather than cutting it yourself.

Sorry to hear the news, Doug!
At 89, (coming up to 90 next March 2nd), I get affected in a similar way during a spot of gardening, etc.
In my case, it's due to a severe lack of; "muscle power"...strength, energy, and stamina.
It places me back in my comfy chair at frequent intervals, after each snip of my garden hedge, or a brush of the dust from my mantlepiece!
Many years of glorious inactivity since my retirement in 1984, have now left me weak and uninspired to do anything involving any form of "work" (The dreaded word!).
...and the very thought of going to a; "Gym" for "exercise" every week, leaves me terrified and breathless!
I just need someone to offer to do the jobs for me...
...my large 3-bedroom house and garden need a lot of; "looking after"
...and the; "someones" and "looking after", are always invisible, at the required times!
...... .... ....!

Look after yourself Doug, and get well soon!.... :D ...!

Paul....from a comfy chair, with a cup of Tetley Tea, somewhere in England... :sleepy: ...!

Look after yourselves gents; I'm sure others can step in and help with the heavy stuff. Take it easy. Go sim! (but keep excitement levels down)

I have watched Doug sim fly his Whistling Wheelbarrow around Blenheim. Smooth, accurate, and unflappable.
Best wishes for a steady recovery, Doug - don't forget, the good guys always win in the end :D

Thanks guys for all your messages it sure was a wake-up call and I will be taking things a little slower from now on although things aren't quite as bad as they thought the Dr said that by my quick actions of getting the st John early I had saved any serious damage to my heart so off home tomorrow and take things easy for the next couple of months and then I should build up gradually over the next 2 or 3 months and I could be back to my normal life again so let's hope he is right

Seems it's that time of year. I've just come out of hospital after a mild heart attack. Have to take it a bit easier now. I know of 3 other people who also have had heart problems in the last 2 months.

Take it easy Doug and look after yourself
