A couple of weeks ago, Youtube informed me that a clip I had posted 10 years ago contained copyright material (referring to 1940's US Big Band jazz soundtrack), and as such could not be displayed in Russia (!)

:o

Today, this, regarding another clip:

Hi,
We wanted to let you know that our team reviewed your content, and we think that it violates our hate speech policy. We know that you may not have realised that this was a violation of our policies, so we're not applying a strike to your channel. However, we have removed the following content from YouTube:
Video: Stuka.wmv
We realise that this may be disappointing news, but it's our job to make sure that YouTube is a safe place for all. If you think that we've made a mistake, you can appeal this decision – you'll find more details below.
What our policy says
Content that promotes hateful supremacism by alleging the superiority of a group over those with protected group status to justify violence, discrimination, segregation or exclusion isn't allowed on YouTube. We review educational, documentary, artistic and scientific content on a case-by-case basis. Limited exceptions are made for content with sufficient and appropriate context. In June 2019, we announced updates to this policy. We understand that you uploaded your content before our policy updates, so we're not applying a strike to your channel.

The 53s clip in question was made 15 years ago in FS9.
Showed the AF Scrub model Stuka doing a wingover and dive.
The model could release its bomb, and did.
I pressed the "Appeal" button as I was perplexed by this, asking what it was that qualified as "hate speech".
Instantly received this:

We have reviewed your appeal for the following:
Video: Stuka.wmv
We have reviewed your content carefully and confirmed that it violates our hate speech policy. We know that this is probably disappointing news but it's our job to make sure that YouTube is a safe place for all.
How this impacts your content
We won't be putting your content back up on YouTube.
Our goal is to help you succeed on YouTube. Please take a look at our Community Guidelines and bear them in mind when posting content in the future.
Learn about your resolution options.
Thanks,
The YouTube team

I will only comment (and I appreciate that this phraseology comes from a bygone era, and could easily be tagged to my online persona):
The lunatics are truly out of the asylum, and they are running it.

Only too true, Charl, and it has been so for several years now. Very sad indeed :( :givein:

Will they remove all wartime footage of anything bearing the swastika or dropping a bomb?

Indeed. We now have to police everything we do and say in case someone with weak intellect and emotion is "offended". You know what happens when you are 'offended'? NOTHING! Nothing happens. It's woke PC BS is what it is. And these idiots governments are making laws about this crap. Legislating something that is totally subjective. Ahhh, don't get me started....

Not surprised, seen some other similar responses to other content on other publishers, whether it's an AI-only response or not you are bound to run up against some real-life staff nutter who's more than willing to apply whatever policy is de jour

Long story short, back ya stuff up otherwise these social media platforms can drop you like dog doo-doo at any time.

Yes. I think of all the "YouTube Movies" I have, or the "Prime Video" movies and one mis-step (according to them) and I could lose the whole lot. Crazy world.
I reckon MS Flight Sim 2028 will be a full subscription model stream fully from the cloud; whaddaya reckon?
