After signing up with a forum(i won't say who) i get a responce saying
"hi,
we have noticed your username and it is not an acceptable name, please select an new user/forum name and reply to this PM telling me what you want it to be
With kind regards"

I responded asking why it is not acceptable as there were no rules in the "rules" if you like(you know when you have to say i accept these rules let me make the account) about the account name.
His reponse
"It is not a name as such, it is a singular binary and highly inappropriate for this type of forum. It also does not say in the agreement that you should not set your poodle on fire and you would not go out and do that now would you ? ;) "

He did not in my opinion say why it was inappropriate. I don't think he responded well at all. In the end I just got a new name (jmitchell) and got on with it.

I would like to know what the NZFF community thinks of this. (btw my name was oO0OoO0Oo because i didn't get a validation email within 3 hours) I have not had trouble with it in the past. All it is is all the "o" like shapes next to each other.

If they are going to do that then they should tell you before hand that it MUST BE A REAL NAME

can't say I'm offended by your username. it's reasonably unique which is useful. Maybe it's not a serious enough name if everyone else have proper names (like JoeSmith)?

Your name is fine, seems like the admin on said forum is just a wanker. Although I don't know how you manage to login with that name, it's so... hard to remember what goes where :P

I was going to point that out, but then I realised that my username isn't exactly easy to logon with, especially when your laptop doesn't have a number pad. I usually just copy and paste it :P

This isn't his name but his name was like: carlfreeman
I know one of our members is an active participant in that forum and his name is not like above.

Dont really know why a username with 0s could be childish and immature its only a nickname. Maybe they have had bad experiences with circles who knows.

I don't think it's childish. The term is 'unique' .

Don't see why that guy had a problem with it though!

But really, it is a bit childish do you not think?

The first part of getting to know someone is learning their name, so yeah I best not ramble on about this..

Zoltuger, its pronouncable, its far more like a name. I may not make sense but is Tims nikname not far more personal than a string of zeros and Os?

Anyway...

This wasn't here to to make a big deal, just to find other peoples opinions. I don't see my name as childish(i have seen some very childish names on battlefield 2 like: TeH Brockasaur, but that is my opinion). If the person didn't like my nickname like jimmy then get on with it. I'm not saying he has to like it, it's just a nickname, which is why i said i changed it. Jimmy if you really want to know then PM me, i don't want to bring attention to the forum when i just wanted some opinions.
Its very unserios

What is so bad about an unserious nickname?

Ronindanbo I know it is his rules and i respect that but he should have said right at the begining that there were rules on nicknames.

As I said before I only wanted opinions, it doesn't bother me having to change a name, nor does it being old my name is immature, unserious childish.

Just don't join that forum ;) . At the end of the day it's just a forum, they don't like your forum so why should you contribute? BTW, were you every on the GameFAQs boards? When I used to hang out there (a while ago), I remember a name similar to yours.

Heh, thats pretty weird. I don't see how ooOO00OOoo is offensive at all, and as admin here I'm more than happy with it ;)

Interesting usernames are what make forum communitys tick!
