I recently created this forum.

http://nzaf.invisionplus.net/

I used NZAF because it's easier to remember and quicker to type.
I made this forum for New Zealand aviation (I have the FS part to appeal to more people) and am just finishing it off and am hoping to get some members.
Note: I will still reside on NZFF I just thought this would be a good idea.

Also how can I make the banner fit properly (so the log in screen goes below the banner not beside)

Just to clarify this isn't meant to be a rival forum to NZFF so please can no one get heated up over it.

Anyway I would be grateful for any comments on it.
Cheers,
Kelburn

I thought hard about this but I haven't meant it in that way. Just a forum mainly for real world aviation.

Umm.......I thought the whole point of NZFF's was to be the 100% kiwi Flight Sim & Real World aviation forum? Nice idea about wanting it to be for real world aviation only, but I think this forum really covers it already.

I'd have agree with Benwynn & VH-CC1

I don't wish to bug anyone but how can I fix this on the invision plus forum board?

(the user options going off to the side of the banner)

I don't mind another forum starting up - competition can be a great thing. What I don't like is forums starting up and then people at those forums bashing members of other forums behind their 'backs' - looks like it may or may not have already started at yours.

It looks to me there like the code for the header, and the code for navigation bar are placed 'next to each other'.
Find the place in the code (wrapper or template) and inserting a <br /> between those two sections should do the trick. winkyy.gif

don't worry I won't be a backstabber.
Anyway where abouts can I find the place to put in the <br/>
e.g. in the global HTML elements etc.?

I'm not sure how the 'Plus' forums are run. The wrapper might be a place to start, or maybe read the documentation of where/how to change page layout. Once you find where the navigation bar is, just slot in that code snippet between it and the item before it (should be a picture) and you should be away.

If that doesn't work then it might be your CSS, if thats the case then you are virtually on your own as I know next to nothing about CSS. winkyy.gif

thanks for your help Alex.
After much searching I have figured out how to edit it (it has to be through the CSS)

I've seen lots of members head off and start their own forums over the last year or so, which tend not to be very successful. However, there is an exception to this: 'The FSF Flight Simulation Forums' spawned from the overcrowded ‘flyawaysimulation’ forums and have grown massively to be my 2nd favourite forums- after NZFF of course. The reason they are thriving is because they offer members something they didn't have before on flyaway- no spam, no guest's allowed to post rubbish and more categories then strictly FS to post about.

Unfortunately, the categories featured on your new forum are already all covered here and at PPRUNE, so with nothing new, I can't see it taking off, sorry.

Advertising and word of mouth I guess. I think the forerunners of the community were mainly simmers with the Godzone and REAL NZ scenery. Because we all had something in common, a love for the scenery, we had lots to discuss winkyy.gif

Yes, I do think that you really need something extra to make another local forum work -- ARNZ, for instance, is very popular because it is attached to a very successful site with a focus. First and foremost there's the FSX repaints etc, then the supporting forum, which can easily cover other topics because of the number of visitors interested in the main theme.
So if I was thinking of putting together some sort of web resource, I'd definitely look at something different.

And also because we have great people like Jon Murchison who created a pack of 16 Qantas skins for FSX aircraft. And maybe also because we have cool competitions. And also we have regular Friday Night Flights.
But that's just my theory. smile.gif
