Anyone getting into this?

I was a Counter Strike player (in the very distant past - must have been in the late 90's), then moved onto BF1942, BF2, Forgotten Hope and so on till IL2. Flight Sim slots in about 4 years ago...

The guys at NZOld Guns (mostly ex-DMZ guys and mostly over 30 years old) got into this and I bought it online $29USD. A fair few older clanners from BF1942 are also playing it, and as it's not too serious (Friendly Fire is off, it has to be really) you can't spoil it by being a tard (which CS is full of nowdays).

As it's not a game that takes itself seriously, you can't help but enjoy playing it. Think the "Incredibles" with guns, or any recent animated Pixar / Disney cartoon. There's a fair bit of sarcasm in it. The things the characters say and do are hilarious. It's like a continual round of explosions. Here are some pics...

The Pyro can be devastating:

Being a medic isn't always fun..

BUT there's is always a "bright side". As in oh well you suck and were killed but lets drag some obscure statistic and make you feel better!

If you want to know what the fuss is all about check out the videos at http://orange.half-life2.com/tf2.html

Did you ever play the original Quakeworld TF?? How does it compare to that?

I tried the followup Halflife version of TF, but it just wasn't the same... I've been keeping my eye on TF2 (and the rest of the 'Orange Box'... Portal looks cool) and was wondering if it was going to be any good...

And I agree about CS... I used to play that for around 3 or 4 hours a night... on dialup! lol... but once it got taken over by Valve and really hit the bigtime.... well all the servers were just filled with griefers and tards...
