QUOTE
Housekeeping staff at the Hermitage Hotel in Mount Cook were called to help an American guest who complained she could not get her pizza out of the microwave.
It turned out she had in fact put the pizza in the safe in her room and activated the lock.[/quote]

 it's the sort of thing you read about, but never believe someone would actually be so stupid as to do it....

Well, you'd be suprised what some people get stumped with inside hotels...

Alex

Edit; This is also not as silly as it might sound, the Hermitage would probably have safes similar to ones at the Novotel here in Rotorua, see picture below...

Ooh, do you have some stories to tell us here, Alex :D
But yes, I see what you mean about those safes looking very much like microwaves  ...do the guests also have a microwave in their room, or is the safe the only way of heating (or trying to heat) the food :ph43r: ?

And no doubt you double checked you had the right security code on the microwave before trying to open it :P

Well its funny, you can never think of these things when you are put on the spot, but if something comes to mind then I'll post it. ;)

It would depend on the room types the Hermitage has (I've never been in there - though have been around it etc), and whether the person was in a self-contained room or not...
