I can definitely see the charm of this ad -- it has had an interesting reception, there are some quite amazing stats on the ad on Wikipedia. The producers refer to it as an 'entertainment piece', and this is the reason why it works so well -- it is far from the normal obtrusive blaring ad, and appeals to a huge range of folk -- including all the baby-boomers who love Phil Collins, and anyone who likes gorillas:)

I don't mind the Cadbury gorilla ad, but some of them really really annoy me.
I think the thing with the gorilla is that it's not really in your face or annoying like other ads. Plus I like chocolate, so there you go.

I don't like that Telecom ad with the business people and their Friday drinks. Just annoys me for some reason.
The news said that it was fake - McCallum and Partners don't exist and they certainly don't use Telecom's rubbish products.
The news also said that the one with the woman with head injuries that advertises side curtain airbags was fake, which was interesting.

That's a bit harsh; they can't use their products if they don't exist.... tongue.gif laugh.gif What sort of lawyers would do that - and would all the nice secretarial types stick around on a Friday night with their white-haired employers on a real Friday night? laugh.gif

But yea, I heard the same thing about the airbag ad, I don't know the real story behind it anyway. I heard that the oral cancer guy with the 'Trachey' (?) is legit though...
