Ive only been a few times in my life and its been the best few hours of my life (save flying). does anyone know of a place where i can hold a (quite big) paintball game for a few days in the bush tongue.gif

all invited if you want to come, though id have thought youd be more interested in spending cash on flying or a new camera thumbup1.gif

_edit_ In July BTW, near the 2nd (my birthday)

Well the biggest place in New Zealand was Spencerville Christchurch , I use to make the guns .. and they were lethal ... them little red ball could punch a hole though one side on a typical cheap plywood door , today the very same person ... Steve Constable runs the outfit out the N/Western side of Christchurch at Mcleans Island , oppisite a site were you can go off and pay to drive a main battle tank , the Cheiftan , that digressing .. yip killed many a playboy solider , nice thing making weapons.. you never have to pay for ammo .. smiliz2.png and ya never run out

one of my friends owns a paintball thingy called paintballextreme but that isnt a bush one so it wouldnt be very fun for 2-3 days on a small patch of dirt with lots of tyres and fake cars everywhere biggrin.gif

Define "carry".

Do you mean use under controlled conditions at a properly defined paintball area or do you mean playing silly buggers running around the streets?

Having been on the receiving end of a few of these. censored2.gif I'd want to be careful what age I'd want to start being hit with a paintball. Little kids not a good idea.

Big ugly 14, 15, 16 year old youth. Probably be fine to handle the bruising. Good character building stuff.

Doubt you'll find a shop that would sell to under 16 or under 18 without a frirearms licence as I think they are now treated the same as a normal airgun under the Arms Act.

yea thats what surprised me. i saw a few markers on trademe with (MUST PROVE 18+ AFTER AUCTION CLOSES) and i thought it was a bit strange, i used to think it was only autos that were completely prohibd, and semis with a lisence and paintball as kind of a grey area. im a bit disapointed because me and my friend were going to get a pair of high quality markers and now we cant, however there are the few traders who dont know about the age thingy and they take it for granted you are of age. and i meant own or keep in your possesion etc. i wouldnt run round town with a few dozen mates causing havok lol

Soft air guns are the same. Licence required. (That includes possession)

I'm regurlarly in at our Police Arms office and some of the stuff that's confiscated and the stories behind them can sometimes be very amusing. (sometimes of course they're not and very serious)

Don't know if you can still get them but did you consider Blowguns? We used to have great fun with those and all you need is a tube big enough for the paintball to fit in snugly.

I seen a 14 year old on TV with a shotgun shooting ducks the other day with his dad ,bang bang bang and he was pointing towards the ground across the lake on the last shot , poor bugger sitting across the other side in his hut, wouldnt of been if there was someone there ..

paint ball yeah fun as, i really dont see it doing to much harm if you go with mates in the bush on a farm with a first aid kit and some h20 ,you could hurt yourself more with a hammer and nail ...

id say just get dad to buy it ,play with respect for safety and your mates etc and have fun

this world is getting to PC ,come on paintball guns man whats that all about ,,charge the stuiped ones that use them in a manner that is dangerous and let the others enjoy what use to be a very easy sport to get into ..

As usually happens a few idiots ruined it for everyone else. eg: idiots driving around in cars and shooting pedestians and at other vehicles. Hence why the law was changed to clasify them and control them a bit better.

Unfortunately 20 odd years as a Firearms Safety Instructor and as a current examiner of licence applicants I've seen too many idiots and the results of there actions. (including deaths, lost limbs etc.)

I'm not suggesting that you would be the sort to be a dickhead with them. But all it takes is some PC, sock and roman sandal wearing, anti firearm type to see you running around to call Mr Plod and you'll find guys in black overalls and masks with big boots and bigger rifles knocking on your door.

I'm normally the first to agree with the anti PC brigade but when it involves Firearms safety. It's not negotiable.

Mikes right "play with respect for safety and your mates etc and have fun". But do it legally.

It's the actions of those illegally in possession of them or the legit owners doing illegal actions that cause the law abiding owners so much grief.

The media as was seen on Closeup during the week love to portray us in a bad light. Campbell Live on the other hand showed the great article Mike saw, about with the young guy doing it right - under supervision. (they were also on there own farm by the way)

If you're sixteen go get your firearms licence and then you can also buy the real thing. The NZ bush is a great place to spend time. Well last weekend when I was up to my waste in a freezing river I may have disagreed. But the venison steak made it worthwhile.

I'll get down off my soapbox now. Sorry to seem so heavy.

Steve Constable brings back memories. I use to be the owner of the indoor paintball place that was/is on Waltham Road, before there we use to borrow markers from him, but he always took them back for the weekends.

Ended up buying markers from Tony, and eventually sold the business to Tony. Steve was less than happy with that.

Haven't played since, but yeah it's certainly fun.

Yeah thats all fair enough but really paintball guns ??? i suppose some idiot tryed steeles in it or something other than paintballs or they are just way higher over powered now ,not like you couldnt mod them back in my days to do that though ,

Im not aloud to have a licence for any firearm due to my late teen years "and no it wasent for anything as little as running around in a car etc" I paid for it and no im not aloud one " that includes paintball gun or a air rifle now too .

I understand the air rifle i understand the shotgun , but paintball thats just going to far ,tell me how many ppls get shot at duck season each year with a licence ??? you are going to have these accidents no matter the law on them
,smoking kills more people in a year but i dont need a licence to smoke and i can if i wanted be reckless and smoke next to baby in a bus stop ..

the dickheads as you put it get found "sometimes "charged and its all over for them

these laws dont stop whats happening in Napier/ gang houses or the silly young teens driving up and down the streets/ even the old man ringing up the plod he will still thinks its a firearm

Opinion and not really to get up ya nose just my thoughts on PC

just a side note wouldnt it be cool in Napier siege at the moment if a chopper dropped a ton weight through the roof and another chopper pumped expanding foam into it ... winkyy.gif

we have 44 or so LAVS boxed up in a army base maybe they should give one or two to the police and do what the US do on cop shows "drive right up heres the phone /heres some tear gas /and now you havent come out heres some more expanding foam retardant ...

i really would hate to see what we would do at a fortified gang pad if the same thing happened ,would the take 4 weeks or just drive the LAV in and give them all a taste of bubble gum favored expanding foam tongue.gif

Get the right size marble in one it will go a fair distance, not that I've tried it or anything, no wouldn't do that.

Wonder if there has been a bigger fire than when someone broke in and burnt my paintball place down, and then 3 months later had all my markers stolen. Sorry too many memories.

haah some guy in the UK burnt my car. it singed the next car along and nearly blew our industrial sized Gas tank which was 7 metres away from the inferno. on the same night some guy (presumably the same guy) burnt half my school to the ground. ah the good ol days, when your parents had enemies for working in a nuclear power plant biggrin.gif

Yeah well instead of dropping the ton weight into the roof to pump the foam they could spray the whole house in it then pump it in from the sides to push him to one area of the house ,you could have metal fragmaents in it if you plz so it would be as easy as clipping croc clips to 50.000 volts ,though if you didnt do that the expanding foam would help stop explosives from blowing up to full damage as well ..

This would not only stop us being a joke to the world but make headlines of KIWIs come up with new age idea in seige stand offs with ofcourse bubble gum flavor expanding builders FOAM dropped by Helicopter fire skycrane and lav fitted with pumps direct to fire truck full of the new crime fighter expanding foam ...

i suppose the only thing that would be a problem would be the greenies and the clean up process ,but really if it safes lives whats the big deal with the contaned mess that this would do create ,,he he big marsh mellow ...

Imagine the Resource consent application and then the enviroment court hearings for that one! tongue.gif

P.S marbles are better than ball bearings (the bearings seem too heavy)
