The Whirlwind has always looked like it only needed one engine, bang on the nose like the other WW2 era monoplanes.. however this model looks really well built inside FS- I must give it a try!

I remember reading about these in "Commando" comics as a boy. Looks a nice model of it.

Yeah there is something not quite "right" about that aircraft, looks like a wannabe Meteor sometimes.
It was just too late to see real action after WWII, and then was swamped by the jets.
Nice pics there FV, VC looks surprisingly good too.

Sorry I have to correct you Charl - the Whirlwind was developed in the 1930s and enetred service in the early 40s but for mainly reasons to do with problems with the engines it wasn't put in wide scale service - otherwise it was a good aircraft. Only two RAF squadrons operated it.

I think you are thinking about the wonderful DH Hornet which came late in the war and was competing with jets.

Happy to be corrected, that'll learn me to ramble on from memory without checking.
I had the distinct impression this aircraft was canned because of engine issues which were only solved at the end of the war.
I suppose it looks 7 years ahead of its time which doesn't help.
