Ground Environment Pro allows you to download METARs for departure and arrival airports, and then offers to install appropriate ground and sky textures.
It then starts the sim with these parameters set.
Usually this is too much trouble, but I have been tinkering with the NVidia NHancer utility as well, so gave it a go on a flight to Nelson around the Sounds, using my new Cessna from Carenado.

Wish I could show it in the original hi-res, but you get the idea.
It was a truly magical ride.

Dank Charl, that there is just about as purdy as a politician impersonating a speed bump. That is real nice.
Testers are born to fiddle. What does this button do? Oh! Never mind.....

Thanks Bandit! (err, I think...)

The arrival at Nelson was less fairy tale, and a little more scary.
I cheated a little and followed a SAAB in.

Wow your reflective water textures really set those screenies off! Glad you have finally discovered the joys of the Carenado 206, hope to see some more shots of her from you here.

Yes that is Ian's scenery, still brilliant.
Activesky is about the only thing I don't have loaded.
My sim is built up of all sorts of stuff, from photograss to Flight Environment textures, to Ground Environment Pro 2.
Because some of the installation is semi-automatic (as dsecribed above) I don't usually know which textures are in use.
This actually makes it more interesting when a nice combination of textures for ground, sky, clouds, water and weather come together.
Bit like real life I guess.
My only rule is: if it works, Fix It!

I was involved in GNZLAP I think when this was a hot topic, and that went on for nearly 8 months when I essentially never used the sim to "play".
So I missed a lot of stuff which is now a real pleasure to explore.
It's what I like most about FS9 - I think I may never get to the end of the fantastic array of excellent addons available.
It's like Christmas dozens of times a year...

Didn't really know where to put these, so just adding to the Cessna:

From Pauanui

West across the Coromandel Peninsula

Robin's old Godzone photoreal really does the business

...and easing down to Lawrie's next scenery project at Thames

Don't want to start a new thread, just playing with some different flavours to see how they display.
These from Cook Strait
