I thought i would share some work i've been doing to create some photoreal scenery for New Zealand. At present I have only been working on central, west, north, south, and east Auckland. More to follow. Enjoy

Is this freeware or will be released as payware for X ? nice cover but alot of work involved in agn and water blending masking and re-coloring of images and getting goggle thats usually printed on them every 100meters etc out of them photos , are you going to build any buildings for the city area .. your a brave man taking on that whole area its massive ,also hope you realise Robin Corn has already layed down 7000sqkm there for FSX

This is more of a project to enhance my scenery editing skills. Unfortunately the scenery won't be payware due to copyright constraints of the images. Due to the huge file size of this scenery (at nearly 10gigs at the moment) I don't think it is viable to distribute. The data is raw at the moment however I have selected areas where i have been playing with colours and defining coastal and water areas. I am looking forward to Robins scenery, i have corresponded to him at various times who has indicated he is devoting time to some scenery areas.

Absolutely, I can understand the work involved, you could certainly make a trade out of this.

With my system I get about 30FPS. This varies but I don't usually get less than 20FPS

This is jaw dropping mate, I congradulate you! biggrin.gif

Now, if you could drop the file size (someway) Blend the airports into higher quality designed airports aka Real NZ, and get permission for the images...

Doubt that will be possible with the copyright and the source he uses ,those tools are just ripping the images like downloading music but i think you can use them for personal use ,everyone just does it like the rip music but if this was released youd find them coming after the big player ,like the area covered in these not your small little airfield here a there ,with Robins Corns stuff you find that he has payed for them and can do as he wishes plus they are coloured right to blend in with the real world we call FSX or 2004 not over purple textures like these ones that look ok in screenshots but not flying around from area to area ...
Nice for personal use though but he will only enjoying it himself and us looking at them unless you use the same tool and do it yourself ..
Im not in hope im waiting for the real deal Auckland X that we can all enjoy and take shots of and going by Ian Warren screenshots i cant wait

Creator2003 has it spot on, there is a heap of work to go into these images to get them looking right and i'm not prepared to risk huge fines by releasing these images into the public. What I like to portray is the quality FSX can handle in it's scenery, this could raise hope in those with standard terrain textures who want more than this. I have emailed the guys at Horizon Simulations and there is a possibility (depending on image availability) that NZ scenery may be in their to do list in the future (i say future loosly). Transitions into different areas can be off putting however I use the 10 gigs of scenery for my real world pilot training for VFR flying, it's great because I can practice map reading and forced landings in the same areas i train in. Anyway at the least, putting these shots up can be quite nice to look at.
