Brilliant!

I first saw one of these at a display when I was a nipper. The pilot was doing a fast pass - just sub-sonic - then went vertical (straight through a hole in the clouds) adding a tickle of afterburner. The only trouble was that he slightly "over-cooked" it ... and broke the sound barrier on the way up. We (the crowd) got the full force of the sonic boom. The commentator was very apologetic ... but we were all smiling (if a bit dazed!).

I vaguely remember seeing an aerobatics display team consisting of Lightnings ... but I forget what they were called (Black Diamonds, 111 something???). I also remember seeing the Hunters a lot (The Black Arrows) ... forerunners of the Red Arrows.

smile.gif Thanks guys.....i think the old lightning is out there all on its own....nothing like it , then or now. Some amazing stuff came out of the UK during the 50's and 60's.
I would love to have been at a Farnborough airshow in....say...1960 something........ thumbup1.gif
If you were wondering, the aircraft are all from Alphasim (packs 1, 2, 3 ).
