Pretty hard to follow Dougs screens....and mine arent of anything new winkyy.gif but, the more "other" things i fly...the more i love this. I know you have all seen it before, but it dosent matter which way you view it...in which light....it looks good.
I think it deserves a gold medal, like they do at flightsim.com etc.

Cheers

Here comes the predictable response from the No.1 Splitpin Fanboi notworthy.gif

There's just so much detail to enjoy on that aircraft. Quite amazing, really. I'm not even going to bother commenting on the quality of the pics laugh.gif tongue.gif

Yep, beauty Marty! Well done - very detailed and realistic shots. thumbup1.gif I was a bit suspicious at first that perhaps they weren't your screen shots. After all, I can actually SEE the blunty... tongue.gif

The last 4 shots in particular could easily be the real thing.
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

Thanks very much guys....i promise not to dump the blunty on you again (for a while). Im going to load up FS9 again tonite...tweak it, and then work on some better lightning shots.
I got the A/S lightning flying in FSX but the screen was all compressed.....any ideas why that might be?Pity, because it looked quite good....just very long dry.gif

Anyway thanks again for looking....take care out there. Ian, thanks for provid thumbup1.gif ing that link for the others.....

There is a fix for this , i,m sure it was in the old Alphasim forum before it was closed down , think just a line in the cfg. file .

Here we go, Marty ... a few resurrected Alphasim Lightnings ...

... and a freeware one (UK-MIL, I think)

The first few A/S ones give all kinds of gauge errors, but the later ones are fine. As I'm running FSX in DX10 preview mode, I had to use the Addon-Converter utility (which I previously slagged off winkyy.gif)

Tweak the panel.cfg for each aircraft to get the right window size:

[Window00]
file=Main panel_640.BMP
file_1024=Main panel_1024.bmp
size_mm=1024,768
window_size_ratio=1.000
position=7
visible=1
ident=MAIN_PANEL
sizeable=1
render_3d_window=1
window_size= 1.000, 1.000
window_pos= 0.000, 0.000
view_window_rect=0,0,8192,6143

and ....

[Default View]
X=0
Y=0
SIZE_X=8191
SIZE_Y=6143

Not sure whether the first tweak works for FSX. I seem to get the aircraft a little higher than centre in spot view .... is there a way I can move it down a bit?

Also, I aliased all the SOUND.cfg for all of them to the T Mk 5.

Nice screens Adam . I have this wicked picture ( painting) of a 'Binbrook' Lightning on touchdown . Do you recall a TV series 'Test Pilot' at the beginning had a camera on the tail off one of two looking back as it climbed up and out over one of there bases .

I think I do remember that series, Ian. However - my everlasting memory of a Lightning is from an air show I went to as a child, where the Lightning did a *very* fast low pass (just sub-sonic) then went into a vertical climb, directly above our heads, just tickling the afterburner as he went up. The result was that he broke the sound barrier and we got the full blast of it (the cone being directly down at us). WOW!!!! Of course, this was in the mad old days when air shows were almost totally unregulated!

I've sat in the cockpit of a Lightning (in a museum) and was amazed at just how "low-tech" it all was. More like something out of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" than the most modern (at the time) interceptor the UK had. Still an *awesome* looking aircraft though!!!

Marty , Flt Lt Steve Moore , Yep the name , played around with all the little toys they had over there , gone here due to the knobs and politics - only reason most the Strike Force is gone is due to the cost to send 'poly clowns oversea' .. on free holidays !

VERY real screenshots, the third one you have to look at a few times to make sure that it is not a real photo. Nice looking aircraft too, and looks just right with the cumulus clouds behind.

Good to see that the screenshots are up to the usual high quality.

smooth landings.
