Britsim says this is the ultimate Gannett, an update of Rob Richardson's excellent model. For a basically ugly plane it has a certain sex appeal and the engine sounds are great. In the NZQN area.

Interesting choice, Dave - and great pics. At first, I did a "double take" on the topic title, as when I lived in the UK, I used to drive past one of these every day that was lying at the bottom of someone's garden (which was a scrapyard in reality). As you can imagine, it looked pretty forlorn - though the moss and mildew suited the original paint scheme

I sometimes wondered whether I could "liberate it" but it really was a bit too far gone.

Curious also how all the aircraft manufacturers have their own "house style" that gets carried through even when the original designer has moved on/passed away. De Havilland certainly were very distinctive - as was Fairey. The Gannet has so much character - it'd be spectacular at an air show. Mind you - so would so many old these bygone planes. Imagine a Hampden, Whitley, or even a Stirling ... and that's just the bombers!

As Adam said "interesting choice" and great shots.

Ive always liked the the gannet.....one of the first model aircraft i ever built....i think they were still in service then.

Well Dave ... you just forced me to install it ... I love it! Couldn't match the drama in your skies, so I just let REX persuade the NZ weathermen that it really *is* this peaceful. All the tornados are miles away (in *my* back yard)

A long way from home ... over some landmark or other ...

Is it me, or does the Gannet remind you a just a tiny bit of that famous Air***k thing?

Not sure Adam , the other guys are nice and warm sitting in their Gannet and F-20 but those other guys in the PZL

It probably is the same one, - it used to be in Lambourn, Berkshire, and now it's at White Waltham awaiting restoration.
