So where are all the screens ?? so far , only Adam and JK.....
Always seems the same....waiting ....waiting....Release, a few shots, and then its gone......whats up ?

Yes I was expecting a big number too so I guess it's up to me to add a few to the pool. Did my usual thing and took off without reading the manual - or even looking to see if there was one (there are two in fact). Took off from Mt Cook airfield heading north, pausing to enjoy the Orbx NZSI scenery (have to say it's pretty damn good).

Anyway, what with looking around inside the cockpit and then round the outside of the aircraft and finally the external scenery, I was having a great time. Then the inevitable happened, I dived and exceeded the speed limit, somehow shaking a wheel loose and then cooking the engine. Crash landed near the top end of Lake Pukaki, got myself a replacement P-40 and stooged around in the evening sunset before landing at the Pukaki strip.

A great experience but a bit of a learning curve ahead of me. I did follow this up with a read through the manual!!

I've also done one of my panoramas which I will post the link to sometime soon...

Ahh Greg, even when you cook it......you make it look good thumbup1.gif I wasn't being smart with my comment in the last post, its just that it seems there is so much hype proceeding some new release......then nothing, thanks for proving me wrong.

I must admit when this version of the P-40 first came out I was not that keen, however after seeing the P-40C at Omaka last Easter, I was changing my tune rapidly. After the promo vids from Scott and the boys came out, well, what can I say other than pure genius and the continuing setting of the payware bar by A2A...

Aaaaaaah ... some great pics there, Scrub & Scaber thumbup1.gif ... I was going to post some more, but can't improve on those!

I'm a total A2A fanboi now - and may even consider buying the P-51 when it comes out (heresy!!!!). You only need to see the occasional techie video in the A2A forums to see how much care and attention to detail has gone into these later Accusim offerings. They really have hit on a brilliant formula for engine/fuel/electrical/hydraulic systems that they seem to be able to tweak relatively easily for any aircraft. All credit to them for that.

On top of that, the A2A developers seem to be friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable ... and don't seem to cut corners for commercial reasons - or rush releases to hit some arbitrary deadline.

The P-40 has a character all of its own - needing almost as much nursing as the Spit (particularly on take-off!) but is just as rewarding. It could never hope to knock the Spit off its perch for me, but it's a very well-deserved 2nd place! Anyway - it's chalk & cheese ... apples and oranges - you really can't compare the two.

Both the P-40 and Spitfire have the best (and most functional) 3D cockpits I've ever seen and the exterior modelling is simply breathtaking. When you throw in what goes on "under the bonnet", it's easy to see why these Accusim aircraft aren't just slightly better than the rest ... they're in a totally different league.

Thank you, well of course I couldn't waste the "photo" opportunity could I - I mean, how often to you see an aircraft on fire? - Actually, if you're me in the Spit or P-40 it looks like it's more frequent than with most other pilots . . .

Is it just me, or does it look like the shark face is screaming in agony on the first shot of the cooking engine?

Have to agree with all you've said Adam, I too am most impressed with the quality and attention to detail both in the structural modeling but also the flight and engine system modeling. That. together with their friendly and helpful manner make them the tops for me too.

I see you were up early this morning! I was going to reply then but made too many errors so left it till I had woken up properly. My excuse was that the continuing tremors kept waking me up - but what were you doing up at that time? Was it a case of identifying with us ChCh people and showing some sympathy or something more prosaic so as to speak?

Anyway, what I really meant to say before I interrupted myself - there isn't such a thing as too many pictures of flying aircraft. Please add yours to the mix or start a fresh thread with them in. I want/need to see more . . . . . . . . . .

I guess the lack of pics are due to not everyone back fro the holiday season etc.. I intend to buy this beauty but am currently stuck in a tiny rental awaiting the move into a new home nextweek and all af my sim gear is in boxes. Its driving me nuts but there is light at the end of the tunnel for me. laugh.gif

I do have a lot of sympathy for ChCh people - I often wonder what the long-term effects (psychologically) may be, continually waiting for something to happen. I can imagine you can put a brave face on it most of the time, but it must keep nibbling away at you ...

However my excuse is certainly more prosaic. I spend most of the day in front of the PC (coding etc.) and sometimes take a break around 6pm - either to watch a DVD, or just doze off (!) ... the result is that I seem to get a "second wind" and then find it hard to get off to sleep. Stupid!

Anyway - here are the few I had sitting there waiting to upload. I'll probably do more, as I'm really enjoying this P-40!

Beautiful screens guys thumbup1.gif still not fussed on that model, but you all show it well.

@Adam...re the mental state of chc residents, i cant speak for the shaken masses.....but Im fine, in fact i was just discussing the possible long term economic problems with the cat , and he tends to think the increase in the number of rodents in the deserted areas could of benifit.

Anyway, Ive a bra in the oven so i have to go blink.gif
