Unless you have a secret editing technique, it must be DX10 that's giving your images such startling clarity. What's the deal for us non-users?
No special technique Dave just grab and the only editing is a resize and then post I have always used the DX10 get better FPS than with DX9

Just another word about DX10 for some of the older aircraft you will need FLIGHTSIM TOOLS - ADDON CONVERTER X http://www.flightsimtools.com/adconvx/ and about US $20

Yes but to save a bit of time you can run the convx you will find it in the addon in the FSX menu bar just open it and run it and it will do a convert and build a data base (takes a few minutes to got through depending on how much scenery and aircraft you have) if you don't build the data base it will still do the convert on the fly but is a bit slower.

I bought Add-on converter for that very reason (it had a success rate of around 8/10).
I've had a love/hate relationship with DX10:
PROS:
1) Better framerates (for me anyway).
2) Much better water.
3) Some add-ons that have DX10 specific cockpits/gauges do look better.
CONS:
1) Many add-on aircraft not really compatible (some even with Add-on Converter).
2) Loads of missing textures for default FS objects at certain times of the day (MS never made DX10 variations for all of them).
3) Some people have trouble getting anti-aliasing to work properly.
FSX DX10 was never really finished - and is nowhere near the DX10 we see in other (later) sims/games. It really is just a *preview*.
I've stuck with DX9!
After many hours of tweaking, I think I've finally tamed the beast that is the FSX graphics engine (DX9 + nVidia Inspector) and daren't touch a thing - not even to see what DX10 used to look like!Last edited by Adamski on Mon Oct 15, 2012 3:17 pm, edited 1 time in total.
