Liberational!

This is where FS2004 shines: there is such a wealth of material for specialist areas.
You could build an entire WW2 sim out of freeware, especially with talents like John Young (remember Duxford?) at work.
He and Brian Clarke recently released a couple of WW2 UK bomber airfields on AVSIM, with appropriate AI.
I went scratching for a Liberator, found I didn't have one, and ended up forking out $50 on the old ALPHA (now Virtavia) one.
OK there is an FSX model in the download too.

The figures are masterpieces in their own right, there are AI Jeeps

and of course, AI B-24's (The other scenery is based on Marauder squadrons)

Thank you Marty, I do hold out still...

I never liked the look of the thing, and apparently the crew didn't either.
The B-17 had a nice big low wing to crashland on.
The B-24 had a horrible high wing which helped to crush the fuselage (and stuff inside).
And they had a propensity to catch fire and burn.

But like the Sherman Tank I imagine, the numbers on paper made sense and so they made more Liberators than anything else (19,000 of them).
