Sadly the truth. I just learned that this was neither primarily for financial reasons or because the airframe was beyond a good shape. Instead there are no longer enough people / knowledge available that could keep her going.

It was actually more that the engineering support was withdrawn due to the aircraft flying more hours than it was designed to.

Loved following the Falklands War, during the time 1982 I had a warboard set up and made up plan's as it progressed, had a little cardboard fleet , a large map ... at one stage I did have the Vincent De Mayo do a sortie but found that was a mistake. The Vulcan's tho were in the, my plan but used a different way.
