A Damp Day In Hollister!....

Postby Fozzer » Sun Jan 22, 2017 3:51 am

FSX and my Cessna 150 Aerobat.

Mid January 2017, 9 AM with real weather in San Francisco area.

In my news this morning...>>>

http://kron4.com/2017/01/20/flash-flood ... hollister/

Not the sort of weather that I should be out and about, but I thought I would take to the air and observe the flooding occurring all around the 'Frisco Bay area the last few days.

Clearance for take-off at Hollister Municipal Airport [3O7].....
(Note: No usual ground shadows due to poor day light).

Banking, to line up with the San Francisco South Bay....

Following Highway 101 to South County Airfield [Q99] at Morgan Hill....

San Jose [KSJC] airport is in the misty distance.

Serious flooding all around NORCAL after heavy rains, and with poor visibility, not the sort of weather that I generally enjoy experiencing in California!

Maybe a case where Captain Sensible and his trusty Cessna should have remained on the ground!... :o ....!

Ta, Ian!.... ...!

....'trubble with me, I've rarely got the time and patience to set-up an awesome/cool amazing screen shot.

Most/all of the time, all I am doing is just exploring the scenery all around me, in places that I am familiar with, and a screen shot just become a quick poke of the "screen" finger, during one of my flights...nothing special!!

I occasionally get an inspiration, (like the shots above), from a breaking-news (Kron4) report of a disaster; storm, flood, earthquake, etc, occurrence in a local area like California, then I wheel out my trusty Cessna and fly low over the area to observe the scenery down below!

After some 20+ years of USA daily Sim Flights I am very familiar with most of the real scenery in California, etc, so I know exactly where to go...with my camera!.... :wink2: ...!

Most of my fun is obtained by just exploring familiar scenery in my little "aircraft".... B-) ....

..in between shopping, cooking, eating, vino-tasting, passing wind, posting fun stuff on various Forums, and motorcycling when its not cold and raining!

Screen shots?..... ....

.....must try harder.... .... ...!

Ta, Marty!..... :D ...!

That trip was a bit special for me as I have been following the wet, stormy weather, day by day, all around North California, particularly in the San Francisco region!

http://kron4.com/category/news/california-news/

Its the extreme from the Drought conditions that they have been suffering during the last couple of years, with reservoirs drained of water!

They have more weather than they can cope with at the moment!

Many of their "Bread Basket" crop fields are under water, affecting the availability and price of their goods.

Normally, most of my flights take place in Southern USA, (Sun, sand, Beach Babes, and Palm Trees), mid-Summer (nice and warm), mid-day (plenty of light), in clear blue skies, with no wind (perfect weather)..... :D ...!

Under those conditions, I become invincible...and cosy!.... :groupwave: ...!

Paul.....California...1995>....since "Flight Unlimited II".... ....!

Today's choices: England or New Mexico?.... ....>>> NEW MEXICO!.... ...!

Hello Ian...

I've got FU 1, FU II, and FU III.

Just tried my FU II in the CD Drive. The option Screen pops up, but it wont install from the CD!

Maybe there is a Compatibility Mode to run the CD to install it?

It would be very nice to try it out again...it brings back many happy memories on my old 486 DX100, etc, processors.

I've got crates of old Computer games, filling up my bedrooms, many of them designed to run under DOS!

I wonder if Steam has a copy of FU II to run on modern computers?....Like my Steam; Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, etc...

More testing needed!

Paul....I like all the old stuff!.... ....!

...and nuffin' listed for FU II in the Steam Search Library!...... :( ...!

Its a shame, as its the first of the Flight Simulators using "Photo Scenery".....!

..and its radio communication was quite good, as well!

I loved it to bits...!

Well done by Looking Glass Studios!

Happy Memories!

In a way fortunate I gave mine away , It was a goody for its time, but I'm not guessing, by today's standard it would look prity much like rubbish.

I just like the experience of trying out my old games...and comparing them to the newer versions!

My FS '98 get a try-out every now and again, and my FS 2004 gets a regular dust-off...even my FS 2002!

I do see the huge compares between FS9 FSX and P3D the graphics alone.
