High wing in P3Dv4

Postby Adamski » Thu Jun 15, 2017 12:56 am

Nuked my old P3Dv3 (well, it was getting horrifically bloated anyway!) - and slowly but carefully installed P3Dv4.

No dramas so far. New versions of FSUIPC and OPUS added - plus ORBX NZNI/NZSI. The only two add-on aircraft I have so far are the A2A C172 and the venerable Aerosoft PBY Catalina - that (amazingly) got a P3Dv4 update.

No PTA yet - nor any clouds textures. The sim looks crisp and clean - and I think lighting on the aircraft is much improved.

Wow, they do look great, that's the most natural FTX colours I've seen, and you're right about the lighting -- just a subtle improvement, but helps a lot.
I haven't installed any aircraft into v4, I should go looking, and I think I do own this Catalina...

Thanks, Rob. I'm about to install the new PTA - which will improve terrain lighting even more.

As far as aircraft are concerned, I'm going to attempt to stick to a rule of only installing fully P3Dv4-compatible aircraft (famous last words!!!). I was amazed/delighted that Aerosoft chose to re-vamp the PBY, considering how old it is!

For the others, I expect I'll just have to be patient and wait for the vendors to work their way through.
