Just tidying up some stuff of my Dads, came across this...I wonder where the photo was taken. - can ask him but he can't answer.

How awfully sad - on both counts ...

Thanks Adam, the dad part is OK its been 23 years since. But it seems he was interested in aviation & passed it on. quite a few photos here and there, came across a stash of kodak slides the family had .

I lost my dad around the same time as you. After all these years, I still can't get used to the idea that I can't just ring him up!

He wasn't that into aviation, but he discovered quite early on that my brother and I loved air-shows (from quite a young age). We used to go mushroom picking in woods near where they used to happen (and saw them for free) ... but then persuaded him to take us to the actual thing. We weren't very well off, so didn't have cameras in those days, but I'll never forget what I saw: a Spitfire at 50ft at full throttle and then, much later, an EE Lightning doing the same thing then rocketing vertically upwards, breaking the sound barrier as he went. Needless to say, air-shows weren't as regulated in those days, LOL!

Cheers Marty, When I was 18, I never thought that when I was 66 that I would wish I was 18 again. LOL.

<_< Yes , its odd Sonny. I can clearly recall being a 19 year old waiting to turn 20 (in a week), wanting to be asked the question "how old are you" and I could say "Im 20" :)
Today , i was asked by a young fella ...as I was climbing some stairs to do what I do "are you ok mate" I said I was , but thanks anyway ... not the first time its happened , but it always make me smile.
Where do the years go ?
