An interesting airframe .....62-4137 "Rivet Amber"

Image

An unusual variant of the RC family, She a big chunk of her forward fuselage removed (starboard side) and replaced with a fibreglass radome for a Huges SLAR (side looking airborne radar) antenna,
The SLAR used so much power and produced so much heat they mounted, what looked like two extra small jet engines. One was a generator, and the other a heat exchanger.

"Lisa Ann", her code name was lost on June the 5th, 1969 over the Bering Strait. Nothing was ever found of the aircraft or the 19 crew.

I'm sure you didn't need to any of that :) But, its another HJG I've got flying in P3DV3.

I will screen it again later, so you can see the addons I mentioned.

Interesting stuff, what they didn't do to that airframe...
I guess even a primitive SAM other side the Bering would not have had too much trouble finding that huge hot pulsing radar emitter in the sky.
