Marty, call me sentimental, but I didn'tenjoy seeing aircraft by the hundreds sitting in the desert waiting their turn to be shredded. I was in Victorville on a buying trip, and it had a very sombre feel...
Thanks for looking JK. WOW ...what were you buying in Victorville , if I may ask ?
I know what you mean about being around these types....sadly, you dont have to venture too far from central Christchurch to experience it But best not to be too public with that, as it is just my opinion.
Used to see the remains of this Viscount when I worked in Toowoomba. I hadn't known it existed, but the first time I saw it I nearly ran through a stop sign trying to see what it was. Only a fuselage with the tailplane, but that massive dihedral gave it away. A sad sight, indeed. http://www.aussieairliners.org/viscount ... vhtvl.html
MikeW 'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Went there to buy a package of JT8D's There was everything from B747, L1011, DC9, B707, B737 and even a few older business jets. I don't know which is worse, seing them waiting for the shredder or watching them rot away in the weather...
"Went there to buy a package of JT8D's " .... of course you did JK, we all do that on a weekly basis .... NOT. Come on big fella, spill the beans ....JT8Ds.... there has to be a story here
