Just Flight made an Arrow for AFS2!

Haven't looked at this sim for a while, I see all sorts of tweaks under the hood, and here's a new GA plane if that's your thing:

And Coromandel

A much better model than their initial Duchess offering I reckon.
Seems fully featured, too.

Nice one, Charl. I'll check it out when I get back from the Canaries :D

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Ah yes the T-tail.
Haven't tried it yet, dangerous things...

I like it, because the A/P has an Alt Hold, which looks after things while you do important stuff like looking out the window. Until Honeycomb get their act together, I am stuck with a twist-type joystick in my AFS2, which is not ideal. If you want to shorten a trip by re-locating the plane, AFS2 shuts the throttle and disengages the A/P, so you need to move smartly to the cockpit view and set things to rights. The MAP seems to read a bit low for the performance I am getting, but it is very flyable. It is very nice to sit in the left seat and see the spinners rotating in both directions, just as they should. Don't think I ever saw that in MSFS.

I see the Duchess was mended at some point after release, so I'll go back to it.
But first, there's another T-tail in the Arrow pack to look at.
We'll go to Innsbruck, interesting to compare with Adam's XP11 mountain shots.

Enjoying AFS2 again, a great "bridging" sim until MS produces the goods at some point.

A nice touch, the pilot figures are different between planes.

Flying Zurich as a waypoint, still impressed by the incredible smoooothness of the sim.
I should post a small clip of this for the unbelievers :)

EDIT: Having rediscovered WIN10's inbuilt video recorder Alt-WIN-R I managed this:

...and look at the way the sim handles light

Continuing the monologue...
I tried the new Oculus Rift thing and found it somewhat lacking, will wait for next-gen VR before buying.
(haven't we been saying this since the turn of the Century?)
So I dug out my old TrackIR5 and after a great deal of fidgeting got it to work in WIN10 AFS2.

It remains one of the better flightsim addons, not 3D of course but highly immersive.
I flew the Piper around NYC, here's half a minute:
