AFS2 - NZ West Coast big jpegs

Postby emfrat » Sun Jun 20, 2021 2:01 pm

I outsmarted meself the other week, and nearly wrecked my work. But I figured out what I had done, got it sorted, and headed south from Westport to just past Hokitika, then followed the edge of the soup until I was about level with NZWS again. Delighted to discover ArcGIS have saved me years of hand-painting scenery tiles - that water looks great  These shots look best on my 27" LG monitor.

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Charl - as a source for orthophotos, their shadowing is too heavy. I noticed that when I was trying to get a good source for the Aoraki region. But I tried them for the coastal stuff south of Westport, and there was that beautiful water blending  none of those awful corbie steps I got with LINZ as a source. So now I will make sure it is their standard, and if so, I will redo all my NZ sceneries with coastlines, with ArcGiss orthophotos. Better than hand editing thousands of tiles.
Watch this space :D
