Cool.pics... I remember reading that the Poms idea of cockpit ergonomics was done by someone vomiting all the instruments around the cockpit! This was reference to the Hawker Hunter and would probably include all the cockpits above too
Thanks for looking Naki. I was thinking exactly what you said when I planned this post. I watched a doco on the TSR-2 a while back, and the test pilots had a real problem convincing the designers to get the cockpit into some kind of order. If you think about it, they designed a few of their cars the same way.... not so much the cabin, but the placement of engine components etc.
Not to mention the variety of screw thread standards. The original Range Rover used 3, or was it 4 ? Or the early v-8 Rolls Royce, where the first step in checking the plug gap was 'First remove the near or off wheel, as appropriate'
