Morning in Fairbanks

Fairbanks International Airport (PAFA)
It wasn't that long ago when the DC-6 was still a viable aircraft in Alaska. Things are different now. Fuel problems, lack of spare parts, maintenance costs of 12 maintenance hours for one flight hour. The last information I found was from 2020. Who knows more?
In MSFS you can of course continue “forever”. But this morning I stopped after checking the weather report on the route from Fairbanks to Nome. This just wasn't for me with an airplane that I don't fly enough to know well.

The days of the heavy metal are certainly numbered but I feel very fortunate to have seen some of it. Funnily enough, when I was first in the US in 1996, there were no DC6s or DC7s on fires but there were a bunch of DC4s still. I guess a simpler aeroplane to operate.
