I still love the smell of burnt kerosine. Right from my early childhood, when from the Auckland Domestic terminal viewing deck, I watched the NAC F27s and 737s starting up and departing. Especially when they turned during the taxy out and I'd jet the full on exhaust blast and the concentrated fumes. The noise ..... the smells. Nothing like it.

Glad I'm not the only one.
CP, for me it was the viewing deck down here in CHCH....the good old days, even had ash trays if you wanted a ciggi.
I really enjoyed the SAAB 340's, they would get all closed up.... props spinning (bleed air ?) for a few minutes, and then introduce the fuel, and then that sound.

I use Link Airways when visiting darling daughter and the grandkids. A nice 340 direct from Bris to Shellharbour, and they even give you a boiled lolly to ease your ears on the descent :D Very traditional.

Deane, I searched the majors for Carenado SAAB. Found some Oz regionals for P3D1-4 on Aerosoft, by JK, Matt Levi and another chap, apparently based on "the white textures supplied by Carenado" but none for LINK Airways.
There is one for X-Plane here: (Hope that helps someone.}

I'd love to have a 340B for AFS4 It's a spiffy little bird :rolleyes:
I'll keep an eye out

Thanks again for that Mike. Turns out the X-Plane textures are the same for the P3D model, just have to flip them, convert them to DDS and add the alpha channel from any other P3D copy for the 340. Works a charm !!! Looks like on the X-Plane site a lot have been converted the other way too from P3D to XP (bunch of Jan's have been converted, with his blessing)

Interesting - it does seem that XPlane stuff is rather more amenable to the AFS SDK content converter, but I have not explored that area at all. Mustapha Notherluke.
