Auckland War Memorial MSFS 2024 Epic Fail

Postby Adamski » Thu Dec 12, 2024 11:45 am

Just to prove that MSFS 2024 has been developed by illiterate, disrespectful chimpanzees, here we have an EPIC FAIL:

Whilst they've got rid of the Barbie textures/colours ...

The illiterate stone masons had a field day (added "FOR" and ... GRAVENT????). They could have got at least the word and letter spacing right:

... and a close-up reveals:

Go to the bottom of the class, Asobo ...

I think you're being a bit harsh there Adam. Formatting and spelling may be a bit adrift but a quite passable rendition. Imagine how much of this has to be reconstructed across the world and not just in little 'ole Godzone?
It could've been a melted bit of Photogrammetry.

OK - I could almost accept that (!!) .. but whatever happened to Quality Control?

I agree though - blindly allowing AI (in RL) to affect so much of our lives is a disaster.

Weren't the World Update 12 POIs done by Orbx? They certainly should know better.

So far most of the POIs which were missing textures are fixed now, which is good to see.

Agree 100% Adam "whatever happened to Quality Control?"
This could have been run by a local simmer before uploading or what ever they do with it.
An airport or POI name spelt wrong...no problem, but a special POI...do your homework numb nuts.
Ill stop here , otherwise Ill be sent to Coventry.

Well ... some progress on this from Orbx ...

Holger has (graciously) admitted he may have missed these errors, but ownership has passed back to Asobo. He's very kindly offered to file a bug report on our behalf

It’s amazing how flight simulation has developed. From basic “wire frame” representations to “blocks”, then recognisable buildings (with no interiors) and now buildings that can be walked around and into, and in the case of the Auckland museum, even able to read inscriptions (inaccurate as they currently are).

I had thought I had all the updates and patches and payware for Auckland, so went looking for this dreadful mistake.
In the end I resorted to the most maneuverable helo in the hangar, so as to get close enough to the colonnade.

If you look REALLY, REALLY carefully, you can see the ghostly outline of the script, I can assure you all it is 100% authentic, except for the typo.
I'm not sure the real thing isn't full of typos too, I have never read this War Propaganda in a quarter century of visits to our fine museum!

Poor MSFS 2024, trying to "improve" everything.
They have shot themselves in the proverbial Foot by making it Too Visible!

As to what you would be doing reading it, I am wondering... no aircraft would get there.
No avatar would need to go there.

And as to bothering Holger, beware, he is a Deity who can make the whole thing disappear if you anger him.
