Papua Bush

Following on from choppernut's comments I thought I'd go look at the western side of that line drawn by some guy with a pen, far far away, long ago.

GE doesn't even try to capture the terrain contours, but the sim actually does; not too badly.
Needs around 17,000 ft.
In a Caravan?

OK the airport scenery is just stock, which I normally avoid, but hey it's an Adventure

There's some rugged stuff in the middle, and given the ferocity of weather shifts, I imagine there would be some aeronautical scrap down there.

Wamena is a grass strip there? Weird. Otherwise, the terrain isn't too far off. In the pic of the Van over Wamena, under the nosewheel there should be what remains of an Indonesian Air Force Hercules that flew into the hill a long time ago. There's still a lot of the tail section there but I never managed to get a photo of it.
