Been there, done it, since 1982....got the tee-shirts...
...and the Tombstones!!.... ....!
Spent many hours crashing Helicopters....!".... ..!

My alternative stuff, with propellers overhead, is my collection of Autogyros....(Wallis, etc)...!
They can float down, engine off!

Much like my Paramotor with its overhead wing parachute...they float down gently!.... ...!

I love floating down gently... ...!

...just don't want to go anywhere in a desperate hurry ...36 MPH on a very good day!

I always think its nice to be able to land and take off on a Sixpence (in old good-old Queen Victoria money).... ...!
Choppers, Gyros, little Ultralights, and Paramotors (powered Paragliders)...
...are good at that sort of thing... ...!

I love doing that sort of thing!.... ...!
