April Screenshot Competition

Post and comment on screen captures from the beautiful game here. Home of the monthly screenshot competition

Although we were not able to find someone to replace Alex and Trolly to run the screenshot comp, it is back due to popular demand. However we'll be competing simply for the glory and the banner rather than prizes!

Welcome to the NZFF Screenshot Competition for April 2010.

This month's rules are as follows:

1) The screenshot must be from a Flight Simulator program (FS2004, FSX, X-Plane, etc), and the position of the shot must be somewhere over New Zealand territory.

2) The image size must be as close as possible to 984 pixels wide- read the uploading screenshot guide to find out how to re-size your shot. Please keep a high resolution version saved on your computer; the admin may request it from you at the end of the month to convert into a site banner!

3) Also remember, try and make your shot suitable for a thin rectangular banner. Think about that when positioning your aircraft and choosing camera angles etc. (and please don't include any text on the image either)

4) Images can be submitted from April 7th to April 30th 2010, with only one entry per member. You can change your submission before the closing date if you want, just delete the old one and replace it with a new one (by using the edit button at the bottom of your post. Please don't post saying you have edited your original entry, as this creates unnecessary clutter).

5) Soon after the competition ends, a poll will open to decide who has the best image, then the winner will have a cropped version of their image appear in the NZFF banner as well as receiving the prize the adulation of the forum!

6) Editing is allowed, if you know how to do it. The more stunning your shots look the better!

7) This month's theme is 'Pioneer'. As always you can interpret the theme as you wish, but it is also a great opportunity to research some of the early pioneers of NZ aviation. If you're stuck for inspiration, try the coffee at the Cafe Aero, Amelia Earhart Ave, just up the road from the Jean Batten School. If you're wondering which Jean Batten Place (there are a few), it's just off Richard Pearse Drive, Mangere...

The first military aeroplane in New Zealand was a Bleriot XI named Brittania (although ours had a Gnome Engine not an Anzai pictured here)..it hasd a very shorlived career here and was shipped back to the UK in 1914.

Ok sum Super Air info
ZK-BDS was the world’s first Fletcher FU-24 top dresser.
A prototype designed specifically for New Zealand conditions, it took to the skies with its first fertiliser load on 11 October 1954 powered by a 225 horsepower engine.
It was the only Fletcher operated with an open cockpit, and between 28 March and 18 April that year it spread 1008 tonnes of Super, before being taken around the country on a demonstration tour.
And now flies with a Turbine New_Zealand_etc.gif

I have found an earlier pioneering aircraft so thought it would be appropriate to change my competition screenshot.
