September Screenshot Competition

Post and comment on screen captures from the beautiful game here. Home of the monthly screenshot competition

Postby Alex » Sun Aug 31, 2008 8:46 pm

This month Just Flight are sponsoring our screenshot competition. This means that the person who wins with the best screenshot this month will receive any Just Flight payware product they want free-of-charge, these can be viewed at www.justflight.com ... Now that's an incentive for you all to enter!

This is the 28th monthly screenshot competition, which is free to enter for all the members of NZFF.

This month's rules are as follows:

1) The screenshot must be from a Flight Simulator program (FS2004, FSX, X-Plane, etc), and the position of the shot must be somewhere over New Zealand territory.

2) The image size must be as close as possible to 984 pixels wide- read the uploading screenshot guide to find out how to re-size your shot. Please keep a high resolution version saved on your computer; the admin may request it from you at the end of the month to convert into a site banner!

3) Also remember, try and make your shot suitable for a thin rectangular banner. Think about that when positioning your aircraft and choosing camera angles etc. (and please don't include any text on the image either)

4) Images can be submitted from September 1st 2008 to September 31st 2008, with only one entry per member. You can change your submission before the closing date if you want, just delete the old one and replace it with a new one (by using the edit button at the bottom of your post. Please don't post saying you have edited your original entry, as this creates unnecessary clutter).

5) On September 31st, a poll will open and run for a few days to decide who has the best image, then the winner will have a cropped version of their image appear in the NZFF banner as well as receiving the Just Flight prize!

6) Editing is allowed, if you know how to do it. The more stunning your shots look the better!

7) This month's theme is 'Back to Basics' - show us what you do best in your sim! The rest is up to you.

All the best to everyone, lets see lots of entries guys! May the best screenshot win!

Back to basics eh....can't come up with anything good, but I guess this will do at the moment

"Back to basics' rare visitors in New Zealand, this time Wellington gets a visit from an old B52H before it joins its brothers in the desert

Might change this later on, after all there is still plenty of time tongue.gif

Sweet shot. Unfortunately you'll probably be disqualified because of the moaners that don't allow real-world photos in screenshot comp entries. I reeealy hope I'm wrong laugh.gif

I thought the editing rules were loosened to allow that VAC?
I hope so, because I quite like the idea of seeing the plane extracted from the FS background and put into a real world picture.
Actually I was going to comment how realistic that shot looked and then I realised... it was real laugh.gif
Another good topic as well Alex. Pretty open - lots of options thumbup1.gif.

The final decision was that full editing was allowed. But I feel that most of the screenshot should be from your sim, should be a screenshot with bits of real-world (if you swing that way), rather than the other way around. smile.gif

For the record, I don't think there is anything wrong with MentorMan's entry.

If you don't like some of the shots, feel free to vote accordingly, rather than vent here. winkyy.gif

OK here's my offering. I couldn't decide which of these two to use ... so ...

My first ever flight in *anything* was in a winch-towed T-21. Amazingly, we did a loop! My lunch survived ... and I was *hooked*! I reckon it's about as BASIC as you can get. No need for turn & slip indicators - you can *feel* it on your face winkyy.gif Summer over the Coromandel ... is it my imagination, or do Air Cadets seem to get *older* year by year?

Now for the one below, I'd like to propose something new (if it hasn't been done before) ... a banner + CAPTION competition ...

Caption: "Errmm .. that was 1500 *pounds* of fuel we loaded, wasn't it?". blink.gif
