Talking of cross decking with the Americans, I managed to dig these out of my limited archives out here. In the Phoenix Squadron book, there are photos of 892's Phantoms operating off the USS Independence. The Speys were so powerful that they started to melt the deck of the US CVNs and in the end they were only going to mil power once the cat had fired.

The 'Diamondbacks' are well know , I'm guessing these are then based on USS America , they were based on the Enterprise early years 1960s , course the A-6s are a good idea dating making it mid to late 1965/7 , love studying these sort of photos. B-)

Nothing like a little research, this B/W photo dates into the last years , least around 1976 , VF-33 based on the USS Independence , you can see the Phantom just under the captains bridge , the unique tail mark is off the "Tairsier" but that marking was the final decided in that year , later they were called the "Starfighters" , VF-33 flew the Phantom longer than any other navy squadron, , which is in its on way special since the Midway class operated F-4s for another seven years.
