Its a dirty job but someone has to do it .. were I'm going, 'hell' will have to take a back seat, Boring and so been done that before, the  is going to require a gold card to even enter or least wait on the footpath with the millions of others were I'm going and who started the 'party' ;)

Some of the older guys at work flew them. You can generally tell who did as they're bald before their time in certain areas on top. :P

Some of the older guys at work flew them

The pilot I knew Graham Taylor, he was one of the BAe-146 for NZ Ansett

then to finish it off all the Ansett girls I got to know

I knew one of the ANSETT NEW ZEALAND girls.

In fact I gave up my seat on an AIR NAURU flight from Niue to Auckland just so she could get there in time for her job interview .... as a cabin attendant for ANSETT NZ .... and she "did" get the job too.

Same girl was voted "Miss Congeniality" in 2 of the Miss Niue pageants here in AKL during the early 1990's .... and that was by 2 different panels of judges over 2 years consecutively too .... so ... she definitely had "something about her" :)

Bumped into her again .... as luck would have it .... aboard an ANSETT NZ flight between Christchurch and and Auckland during mid 2000 and shortly before the transition from ANSETT NEW ZEALAND to QANTAS NEW ZEALAND .... but .... we never crossed paths again after that.

Knew one of the ANSETT NZ pilots to .... a F/O .... whom I jump seated with on another occasion between Auckland and Christchurch. Think he moved on later to SKY CARE in Auckland.

Getting back to the 1-4-6's though ....

Story I heard is .... just prior to it being announced that the airline was to transition from B737-100's and -200's to the BAe 146-200's .... some of their pilots were keenly anticipating B737-500's and EFIS type FD's and were actually quite disappointed to learn what they'd be flying, if they stayed, when the announcement was made.

Story I heard too is .... despite the fact the 1-4-6 is/was a very quiet, economic, and good short field aircraft .... it was also, in -300 form, "under powered" .... and just lacked the punch of a B737 at altitude.

I also heard .... ANSETT had to fly its 1-4-6's "a bit harder" .... in order to be able to compete with AIR NZ's B737's in term of air times over most of the NZ domestic route network.

As stressed above .... this's only "what I heard/had reported" to me first-hand .... by those in high places.

CRIPES , you would have been Auckland based , One girl Annie-Marie , bit of a story here .. an ambassador to NASA and the Space Camp , course due to my known family connections with Ansett staff , playing indoor netball .. whole different story so got to meet many of the ladies, after pushed as captain to the team, it had to be three guys and four girls ..

Pre Wanaka airshow after a game of indoor netball the team sitting in the bar, Annie-Marie was talking about the want to promote this NASA thing , that stage I was sorting out captain things with the Sockburn indoor center .. when I come upstairs to the bar ... YIP they where all looking at me

I did not know what was going on ... the someone said "If there is anyone that could make a Space Shuttle " ... Ooops :D I still have it and upright bolted together it is nine feet tall ... made out off cardboard, its been to many Wanaka's .. Wigrams and many many Schools since and weathered the time and age ... even met Brian Duffy , one of the last space shuttle drivers .. His comment was "I had perfectly created the tail " had dinner with the group , Middleton Grange Intermediate School had it during a Space thing .. the Shuttle hanging in the class room , Brian happened to be on that mission and talked to the kids .. really that was impressive ! , I was not there .. Working on the day but Kids got a real buzz when he said he met the builder .. really quite funny , just amazing.

HMMM .... "not' the girl I knew Ian :(

i won't mention her name on forum .... no reason why other than just respecting her confidentiality of course .... dunno what her circumstances might be today .... BUT ... I have sent you a PM Ian .... you may know her given your apparent connections with ANSETT staff.

The girl .... I knew .... flew for POLYNESIAN AIRLINES/NIUE AIRLINES (firstly), and then AIR NAURU (secondly) .... before moving on to ANSETT

Folks please be aware as follows ....

We/HJG .... are going to have to replace our recently uploaded BAe 146-300 and BAe 146-300QT aircraft base pack files.

Last night I discovered, to my horror, that I'd inadevetantly copied & pasted the wrong W&B and MOI data to these particular base packs.

The result of this "error" is that these simulations will commence and uncommand and constant slow port and starboard roll as soon as the AP is engaged :(

The error is "MY FAULT".

We/HJG will be correcting this problem and new base packs for these simulations will be available ASAP.

I will update this thread to announce when the repaired files are available.

"MY SINCERE APOLOGIES" to anyone here whom may have been impacted.

BAe 146-300, -300 QT, AND FURTHER ARJ/BAe AIRCRAFT BASE PACK IMPROVEMENTS

The cause/s of the recent issue affecting our new BAe 146-300 and -300 QT simulations (constant and uncontrollable roll during AP controlled flight) have been identified .... and "FIXED" :)

New aircraft base packs, containing the repaired CFG files for these have now been uploaded.

We've additionally applied further minor enhancements to each of these simulations, so, the integrity of these latest files is now slightly better than was the case when they were first released on March 31st 2017.

All new CFG files contain headers dated "APRIL 11TH 2017" .... these are the latest files.

For furthr information regarding this please refer to todays HJG forum announcement ....

http://tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/threa ... ated-april

Those whom wish to .... be sure to refresh your internet browser (use SHIFT + F5 keyboard commands) in order to be able to see, and access, these latest HJG offerings.

2D panels only Ian .... separate ARJ and BAe specific versions .... both EFIS and analogue types for each respectively and as presented within my very first posting on this particular thread ;)

We/HJG simply don't have the capacity/resources to compile VC type panels .... however .... both 2D panels we offer are among the best I've ever seen/used having been compiled by a pilot on these aircraft, and intended for use by ARJ and BAe pilots, as a home PC based familiarization tool (similar to the HJG DC-9 panels also). These panels are also FS2004 specific too .... and are fairly procedures intence (featuring a high degree of systems fidelity), but, if folk prefer to using other less complex panel options, then such may be used with our simulations also .... but .... we/HJG won't then be able to provide support for such alternative panel options of course. The Mathias LIEBERECHT ARJ and BAe panels are the "official panels" for the HJG ARJ and BAe simulations.

ALSO ....

Our ARJ and BAe aircraft base packs, models, and FDE "ARE" FSX portable .... but .... not FSX native.

Separate and extremly authentic/high quality FS2004 and FSX specific ARJ and BAe soundpacks are also provided by us/HJG and for use with these simulations.

All installation instructions relate to FS2004 installation procedures though .... but .... the team will be happy to try to assist in regard to FSX installation should anyone require such assistance .... all support to the HJG forum though since we don't (normally) provide offsite help.

We hope folk will enjoy yesterdays revisions .... since these simulations are now even better than they were when originally released on March 231st/April 1st.

As a kid I loved going to the airport and smelling the burnt kero exhausted from the likes of the Dutch butter box, 737 and DC8.
It is a olfactory pleasure that I still enjoy to this day.......
