On separate off topic question if you permit me to ask here: your famous website contains ALL liveries of New Zealand for all planes. I cannot find it and when I click on your link, it shows me only 4 or 5 liveries. I am looking for crisp sharp high quality liveries of any New Zealand airline or NZ air force for Jahn DC-3/C-47 version 3.12 please

Is this the beginning of a new direction for Godzone?

Not so much a direction, as another aimless wander following the fun....

A couple of things have become apparent very recently, first, I don't think I've sold more than 5 products since MSFS was released. Second, developing for MSFS is a lot more fun than I expected. My initial exploration of the SDK was a bit of a disaster, as there's nothing like a 'for dummies' tutorial. I really miss the old days, when someone would just sit down and write a tutorial to get everyone started with any new method. Something like the old Windowlight tutorials....

However at one point things started to click, and I'm pretty sure that I can do this. I've started with Taieri as it is such a character airfield, with lots of old buildings and rusty sheds. This is just reusing the Prepar3d models and textures, but adding PBR effects to everything. Being able to place scenery directly within the sim isn't new, I've always preferred that with Prepar3d, but MSFS is something else. The SDK is just early stages, but what it does at the moment it does very well. The only issue is having to pause work this morning to watch the sun rise over the hills -- I am always astounded by just how beautiful this sim is.

I had to reinstall Win10 2004 on my sim PC. XP11 remained intact, but I'd have needed to reinstall P3D from scratch. No way!

Since installing MSFS 2020, I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to reinstate P3D. There's just no point - despite all those wonderful add-on aircraft etc. that I've loved for a fair while. By the same token, I no longer need REX, ActiveSky, PTA, Tomatoshade and a whole heap of payware or freeware utilities so, for the money, MSFS is actually quite a good deal.

Default MSFS 2020 scenery is quite good - with some areas way better than others - but that's to be expected - but I wouldn't mind the odd decent airport that's created from scratch for MSFS 2020, as opposed to an old-tech portover.

I think that P3D really is a dead duck now ... and I'm not surprised your sales for that platform have all but disappeared.

Aha! So THIS is where I saw your post (thanks)!!

I found maintaining all the different repaints (from all contributors) very time-consuming, so when I re-vamped the NZFSIM site a while back I only included my own liveries. However - I probably still have an archive somewhere of all the old DC3 repaints - as I certainly had all the NZ ones running on my P3D. So ... watch this space - I'll let you know what I find!

They've either had an immobility spell put on them or sadly/more likely ... they're trees! I'm prepared to be surprised, though - so will refly that trip!

Yes, I'd put money on trees -- there are trees in the Tongariro crater. I'm relieved to know that AI isn't ready to take over the world yet.

Lol thats what I was thinking. They are trees on Mt Taranaki/Egmont. The trees are also generic and are way too big in most circumstances... there’s a tree at Mount Maunganui as high as a 10 story building!

I had a similar run-in with ORBX and their early UK/GB releases - autogen houses all over National Parks - yet each area is clearly defined and the info is easily accessible. Not exactly difficult to create an exclusion box, but nobody took up the suggestion.

And Shetland covered in dense pine forest you'd be lucky to find half-a-dozen proper trees in the whole place, as a quick look at Google Earth would have shown.

I wouldn't be too hasty. There is no doubt that MSFS is great for low and slow but it is yet to get off the ground with heavy tin and for that reason I'll stick with P3D for a while yet.
Once MSFS matures I will make the leap. My other concern is just the shear amount of data that is needed. I only have a 30 mbs connection (which make or may not cope) and that may severely limit others in the household wanting to watch the likes of Netflix or listen to Spotify.
