It's been a very long time since I've flown anything on FS that wasn't a turboprop or jetliner. Decided I'd have a look around at something a bit different and found a great Connie by Manfred Jahn. Switched the sounds to the TSS DC3 sounds and have only flown it for a few minutes around KPDX, getting a feel for it. Very sensitive with pitch inputs but everything else is superb! Perfect time to fly too, cloudless, warm day with no fog...though a little turbulence a bit higher up. Had a problem when landing though, didn't quite make the runway....idled the engines to slow down, they ended up cutting out! Oh well, live and learn I guess. Here are some shots I took on the ground. No editing, just a resize. Just need to find a 3d light code for it now.

Great screenies of a classic propliner. There is something magical about the form function and beauty those old birds oozed.

Great shots mate! The old birds certainly are addictive smile.gif
Lose that TSS Dak soundset though, there are quite a few meaty soundsets available from Flightsim.com, and possibly Avsim now that things are getting back to normal for them...
The turbo-compound engines have a sound all of their own - loud, but muffled by the turbos and PRT units.

He's done a good job of modeling the way those big radials will load up if idling for too long though thumbup1.gif
If you want to be pedantic about how to treat them, always make sure (in flight anyway) that you have more manifold pressure in inches, than you have RPM in hundreds wink.gif

Manfred did a whole group of connies, R7, C121, WC121,G, H, model and plenty of skins for them have been added, as well. His Starliner 1649 is also a superb freeware.

They are great screens , the sound file you want would be this one from flightsim.com

FS2004 (ACOF) - FS2004 Sound
FS2004 Curtiss-Wright R-3350 Sound Pack
Name: r-3350.zip Size: 24,315,782 Date: 05-10-2008
FS2004 Curtiss-Wright R-3350 Four-Engine Sound Set. A Curtiss-Wright R-3350 four-engine soundset suitable for Super Constellation and DC-7 models. The package contains sounds recorded by Friedrich Trachsel for the SCFA "Breitling" Super Connie and is released here in support of the Starliner project.

As for runway , this is one of the first passenger aircraft using propeller pitch for short field operation , the air file i guess is still a work in progress but as Don mentioned we have so many versions to play around with . cool.gif
