Rebuilding my PC files and came across these from when I was painting the Argosy

I though I might as well show them here

I tested in in NZ but i's default FS9

The SAFE was the first of the project I painted......nice livery

I do have an old photo of this aircraft taxing into Christchurch , i scan and post it here , we have a Argosy fav plane man , Doug , i'm sure you will get a visit from him very shortly as he live just around the corner from the Blenheim Museum piece .

Hi Gary and Ian yes I'm still up just reinstalling planes on my win 7 and yes the argosy is my favorite plane I have seen it coming and going in Blenheim for many years I have it installed in my FSX with some small holes in the VC but not very noticeable one is still sitting just across the road from Woodbourne and I would love to see it shifted over and parked up alongside the Safe Air Bristol freighter alongside the Aviation Heritage Museum and as for where I live you can see our house in the banner just above the Green roof BP hanger you can just see 3 little green roofs there are actually 4 cottages there and I am in the third one in or second to last one so if you ever get to Omaka your welcome to come and have a coffee its only about 2 or 3 minutes walk from the main hanger.

Great for you to be so near a couple of my favourite aeroplanes.

Your Argosy was very familiar to me years ago when I used to see it often as G-ASXN with BEA.

Not seen a Bristol Freighter active since 1972 although on a visit to England I did see the Air Atlantique example parked at Coventry. Apart from the one mentioned above a visit in the mid 1960's of one of Dan Air's aircraft and a few vists of the Aer Turas machne during a dock strike in 1972 (The same event that saw the last of the Superfreighters for me too), that is the only time I even saw Freighters.

On the other hand, Superfreighters visited perhaps six or seven times a day thundering over the school of past my home until 1967 when the air ferry ceased and from then on they were freight only a few times a week slowly fading out as airframes reached their spar fatigue life and were retired.

The aformentioned dock strike was interesting as there was a shuttle run using ABC Argosy's G-APRN,G-APWW,G-AZHN plus EI-AVJ of Aer Turas. Freighter 31 EI-APC with Superfreighters G-APAU and G-APAV of MAC. The other aircraft on the run was Interior Airways civil Hercules N921NA.

Would be nice to pop in for a coffee and a chat but sadly my health prevents me travelling more than a short distance so the 19 thousand kilometres is a bit far

My wish list would be some of the classic aircraft for FSX and DirectX 10 capable the wish list Argosy, Bristol freighter, F27, DH 86, DH Heron, HS 748, Carvair, DC 4 and 6 all in the old NZ liveries. I think Ian would love to get into some of these too.

I do have three old 'Mount Cook' livery 748 paints , the Andover ... off all things the man who flew the 748 from the UK to NZ only lives around the corner , one unique paint was a 748 with the Red Cross band around the fuselage used during evacuation sortie's through South East Asia during the end off the Vietnam War ... hence the change in the logo , Alister Mclean being the pilot in charge , I did see this aircraft outside the old Airwork hanger years before the International Terminal was built there .

The pier in the back ground is were i took the photo of the Argosy as it taxied in to number 2 hanger Christchurch Intl .

This screen go's well back before pc and flightsim had clouds

........ but true .. perhaps the only thing missing is the Argosy taxing in the back ground

Well Mav , no.2 Hanger went down the other week ... loosing observation deck .. injustice , ... it was writen , Christchurch people are drawn to the airport ... it was'nt a playground but to what the types of flights , this time of the year , aviation nutter dream , but its like every thing they do in this country , this is historic ... sell it or give it away to a bunch off money hungry knobs .. I grew up around this airport and Wigram , ... well you have read my views on that , ............ I'm not religous , what the hell do we need a bloody Church in the city center ,no point , lets pull it down brick by brick !
