I can't afford a proper holiday this year, but if I could it would be somewhere quiet, sunny and not too far away...

Norfolk Island! What add-on is that, or is it default?

The default Norfolk Island is quite bad, no elevation and poor topo, so it was time for something better.

Coming soon. Imagery and mesh , autogen by Ian Warren, bits and bobs by me.

A donationware experiment , and whether or not this turns out to be a good idea depends on donations. I've made him promise that he won't go buying anything else until this is paid for:)

At the moment I'm still trying to decide on the extent of this scenery. I was asked to help out, but it is so much fun working on an island like Norfolk that I don't know when to stop...
Even the research is fun and educational. For instance, did you know that the most common form of assault amongst Norfolk Island convicts in the 19th century was nose-biting?

Hmmm, I just don't know really -- if I did any modelling, it would be the first time without visiting the area. If I do, it'll be pretty basic, but there are some nice ruins...

Same with the airport. Probably better than default, but not a 'Real NZ' effort. After all, it isn't NZ...

I am looking at doing a Norfolk Pine autogen, but this may not happen.

Air NZ take a A320 there once a week. Qantas use a 737-800. Norfolk Air have a 737-300.

An Island in the Tasman Sea , Norfolk Island close to New Zealand and under Australian Dominion , even the city area of Christchurch could not fit on this Island .

Phillip Island , maybe only for the microlights

Helicopter or ......

It would be nice to stop here ,

Just to stop .

Ah Norfolk Island....visited by the newly weds or nearly deads...or so the saying goes.
Even though Norfolk Island is not a NZ domain it is still important as a fueling stop for Tasman flights by lighter aircraft types or even as an enroute alternate for 737's or A320s that cannot cross direct under ETOPS (inop APU for example).
Looking great...almost convinced to convert to FSX...almost....

Fantastic, another piece of the Pacific destinations puzzle looking awesome. Great work guys. Will save my xmas pennies for this.

Its a great place for a visit, my folks took us to Norfolk when we were kids, we also bought a truck load of matchbox toys, great little bay w a safe beach and enough historical stuff to keep the adults entertained. I cant remember what we flew there on, would a Fokker F27 have had the legs for it???

Yeah it was very tight for the Fokker. Usually enough for the trip to Norfolk one approach and back to Kaitaia if unable to land.
