Quite amazing, now you can really see how much Microsoft skimmed over NZ (I know they took on the world ohmy.gif )

(Might take a second to get going)

VLC would make me persevere with FSX, even if only at 2 fps!!

Drooling.

I don't notice a drop in FPS......just check in FSX, mine actually go up 1 or 2 on average with VLC on. Strange?

There's hope for me then with VLC! FSX runs like a dog for me. When will it be available, enough with the teasing!

This is the post 've been waiting for. Dramatic comparison. Is VLC going to be seasonal?

Are these shots made using the Mountains of NZ terrain mesh? Is the mesh affected at all VLC?

Yes VLC is seasonal ,and as a beta copy does not have the intended resampled 20meter mesh "yet "that i remember Tim chatting about down at the airshow ,
personally i like the winter and spring settings as they are a lot greener north of the south Island ,i choose these setting with or without VLC when i fly NZ ,force of habbit i suppose but does look better .

As noted Im overseas at the moment (currently in Hong Kong and flying out this afternoon) but to answer some questions above- The VLC doesn't require or alter mesh. If you have the redbaron 20m mesh you can use it with VLC as is.

I am working on a 20m mesh for the VLC project too (I need it to compile the 3D water polygons) and this will be released a little time after the initial VLC-
From early tests, although the new mesh is the same resolution, the detail seems better (computing power and interpolation methods have improved a fair bit since the Red Baron data was created)....probably not worth upgrading if you already have a 20m mesh, but I do want to price it competitively to attract new buyers.
