Some random shots from the last few days, one thing in common is that they all fit my idea of 'real' out the window...

A mix of photo scenery and VLC, plus some other bits and pieces which add to the realism:
REX2; (even though in the Hoki shots the weather settings are way low)
Shader Model 3.0 by Jesus Altuve;
ENBseries HDR/bloom mod -- the one which sOcks covered inthis post

No matter how realistic the scenery is getting, it only really comes together with the HDR mod, which overcomes the computery look of FSX. It ain't perfect, but it is another very positive step towards real.

Great looking pics!

The HDR mod is for DX9 only sad.gif.

Have you looked at VLC stuff in DX10? Does DX10 make any difference?

beautiful pics Rob,..its funny as each version of FS comes along the words "as real as it gets" get used,..but in this case it REALLY is approaching as real as it gets !. Flightsim can really be made to look spectacular kewlpics.gif
I installed the version suggested by Socks but dont see any difference,..could you suggest some values to play with within the ini file for me please Rob ?

ive tested Vlc in dx10 ,and works the same as dx9 ,no difference though because of tiny edges of runways and small detailed objects in fsx shimmering with dx10 i dont use it unless doing a test ...
great shots ,looking really good winkyy.gif

Hmmmmmm....

I had to make a decision to either spend some money to build a home cockpit using FSX, or to spend a bit more money and do the real thing. I chose to get my PPL, (I'll have my first lesson today at NZPP) which means that FSX has to wait until 2012.....or more...
I think I made the right decision, but it's still hard to watch those screenshots without a bit of envy smile.gif

It's hard for me to hear about people doing it for real without a LOT of envy! laugh.gif. Great decision ... best of luck! Keep us posted!

Funnily enough my FSX crashed the other day when I hit the ; key to save my flight. Checked the logs and it was the d3d9.dll that caused the crash (the HDR mod). Bit of a shame as I had been flying for hours without issue. Just be warned that this might happen to anyone else who uses it.
